What is this? (not the old coot in the hat, but what he is holding!)
Please hurry, as I already ate it for breakfast, and am sweating and feeling dizzy.

Just kidding. @thrillhill and any others who may know

And like @Jerzsubbie mentioned above, it does look like a parasol, but I'm thinking Shaggy Parasol. Read up on it. We are not familiar with them. I don't know that the "juice would be worth the squeeze" even if that is what it is.

War Eagle! I went to Auburn from 2000 to 2003.
My sister's cap. I went to Alabama and my cap is so beat up that my wife hid it from me. I will probably get it back soon......
To be honest, if I had it to do over again I would go to Auburn. Much better fit with who I am.

After further inquiries I wouldn’t touch it. It could be a “false parasol” according to the elders I reached out to back home. While you can eat a shaggy parasol you run a risk of getting a very upset stomach.

And if it’s a false parasol...well, you might just end up checking out for good.

So I agree with you Bill. Not worth the risk.

You are the first Alabama fan that I've ever met who actually went to college (any college). Hahaha

Boff my brothers graduated from Bama, and are fans.
Thank you for your comment, but I'm going to immediately forget it because it doesn't fit the Alabama/ Auburn rivalry narrative in my head...

I grew up in Alabama, and every single "Alabama" fan I met had never gone to college anywhere... Toothless... Row Todd screaming... Tide detergent buying...

Haha... I was raised to be a Bama fan until I got the opportunity to go to college at Auburn, and I flip flopped real quick....

And, the girls are prettier at Auburn...

;)

Grasshopper, that's a bad way move through the rice paddies of life.

Does it help they were both born elsewhere, Raleigh & St Louis?
Haha. I was being sarcastic! I know not to trust the "narrative"

uhhhh no. There are some knock down beautiful girls there, for sure. Girls from the deep south in general are just plain prettier, and that is a fact. However, I remember going to Tutwiler hall to eat and just being agog at all the beautiful women there. Astounding. FWIW, Playboy magazine rated the quad (in front of Bidgood hall, business school) at Alabama THE BEST place in the nation to spot beautiful women. That was a long time ago, but it is still true.

I married one of those debutantes, and if anyone had told me she would look as good as she does at age 64, I would have scoffed.

Well, glad we got the mushroom thing
back to the original topic. The shrooms did not stay balled up. They did open out

Just go ahead and eat it, then later tell us it was a bad idea. That's usually what you do when you ask my advice right?

I am laughing, but actually, no. You are one of the very few people who, when I ask something, USUALLY I just take your advice....., but you already know that and just are yanking my chain, right? Hope all is well. Miss seeing you guys.

I thought this was going to be a thread about good music

Can any one identify this mushroom that showed up in the yard the other day? I have never seen one like this.

Batch of Chanterelles I picked yesterday evening. Will be with dinner tonight. One of the few I can identify. Friend and his wife came over to hunt my place and she was impressed with the variety and quantity of the shrooms we found. She is the expert, so I defer to her. Has had several classes, member of a couple groups and is conservative, if she does not know she does not know. We found about 5 times this amount of Chanterelles, I just kept enough for my dinner, some old man of the woods and some others she picked I was not familiar with.
