Wife is wanting to get another small SUV, and is liking the Escape's. Found a 16, and a 17 for a decent deal. Anyone have one or experience with them? Likes, dislikes, etc. Thanks.

Got the missus a 2014 Titanium brand new. Dealership was a bunch of jerks but she loves the car. She likes all the features, back before the kids went to college we drove BMW's and she says she likes the Escape better. Good power with the turbo, easy to maneuver and park with the various assist features, hands free everything. We get a fair amount of snow up this way and the AWD goes right through it. One of our kids is moving out this weekend and half her stuff fit in there with the seats folded down.

Also, not sure if the newer models have it but on the rear seat floor passenger side there is a little compartment under the floormat. Perfect size for a backup gun & ammo, cash, etc.

It was on the short list when I was searching for a new car. I liked the roominess and power of the turbo option and good m p g. I ended up going with the Nissan Rogue as it got a bit better on the MPG though not as peppy.

There is good reason They are the biggest sellers in the market.

My wife replaced an Explorer with an Escape. As much as she liked the Explorer, she likes the Escape's pep, economy, convenience, and spaciousness even more. The interior dimensions of the Escape were within an inch of the Explorer's, with the exception of the depth of the trunk/cargo area; my wife prefers being able to reach everything in the back of the Escape to having to climb into the back of the Explorer.

I drive one at work averaging about 250-300 miles a week in a 2016 XLT Gas model (not Hybrid). I honestly can't think of anything bad to say about it.

This is great info - looking at getting one for the wife next year. The Escape is high on the list.

What motor / trim level are you guys going with? Sounds like the Ecoboost is the popular choice.

I did a lot of research and found the 1.8 eco boost was the best for economy and power.

Are there any issues with the transmissions like the focus and fiesta have? (speaking of the powershift auto tranny)

They use the same transmissions. However, the issues with the earlier versions have seem to be corrected

According to my dealership, they (focus and fiesta) have still been having problems, even with the 17 models.

Ive been pretty lucky on mine - 75k miles without a real issue. BUT it has some of the slipping when going up some inclines if Im under 40mph etc

Don't do it. The Mrs. had a 2016 and we had transmission problems with shuddering around 9k. My sister had a transmission leak at 11k.

We got an outstanding deal for a 2016.5 Mazda CX5 and traded the Escape this past January.

The shuddering is what Ive had - it sucks. Mainly on slight inclines at low speeds. But also bad after Ive been on a highway for a while and then get off and going through a town at low speeds (sub 45)

A replacement ecoboost engine with turbos is around $10k for the record. We had one die at work when the sales guy didn't change the oil for around 45k miles. Transmission failed right after they replaced the engine. Everyone else that has them seems to like them and they are holding up well. Have several 15's 16's and 17 models. All are typically driven 30-40k miles a year. Only think I have heard wrong is the known transmission issue and that has only happened on a couple.

Going to get my daughter one for a graduation/wedding present.

I do love my car, though I think I'll get a slightly larger vehicle next time.
The MPG is AMAZING - Ive seen low 50s on the highway and it is NOT a turbo or a hybrid.
Solid 42mpg is average highway/city.

Ive had some issues, but I know that cars are going to have issues from time to time - you make a million of something there will be a few lemons.
But the tranny...that does concern me.

I would consider an Escape in the future based on my current Ford

Thanks guys. That's exactly what I wanted, some real world experience with them. I'll do some more looking and searching and we'll test drive some and see what we come up with. Thanks again.
