Ford Motor Co. has filed a patent application for an odor-removal process
that eliminates the new car smell after a vehicle has been purchased.

Long ago, I had a consulting project involving selling leather to auto makers for seats and steering wheels. A car company buyer once told me the only interior material where aroma was considered beneficial was leather. Other than that, they were doing everything possible to reduce smells from materials inside cars.

I love the new car smell. My father used to try and mimick it in his cars. That smell has been around since before cars where made from mostly plastic and foam.
