I am a hard core Glock fan, with the exception of a couple M&Ps, they are all I own and shoot. I used to try something new every couple years but always ended up trading whatever it was for another Glock.

I won a raffle a few weeks back for a Trijicon MRO and they have been out of stock from wherever the guy who runs the raffles orders from. So today he contacted me and apologized and asked if I would rather have him cash me out at $400 or keep waiting. I really don’t need another optic so I took him up on the cash and started browsing all my usual sites to see if I would come across something I “needed”. I wasn’t having any luck till I came across an in-stock Sig M18.

I have never really been a Sig fan, but the m18 has kinda interested me especially since the USMC, USN and USAF have adopted it as their service pistol. I’m only out of pocket in for about 190 bucks so worst case, if I hate it I can always make some money off it. Should be in next week hopefully and I’ll let y’all know what I think.

I've shot one, it was ok, nothing to get all excited about.
 
It's the only Sig I like. I've enjoyed the few 320's I have tried.
 
Well got the call that it had arrived at my dealer last night so I went to pick it up. I have kind of a unique situation here since I live here in VA, but my orders have me stationed in MD and I have a TX license. I had asked the dealer about my situation several months ago since I figured I may end up buying a gun at some point while I lived here and was told that as long as I bring some proof of residence (lease, utility bill, ect) I would be good to go.

so I get to the shop and after explaining my situation to several different employees, they call the state police and get told they can’t do my state background check off of that paperwork for a handgun, if it were a rifle I would be good to go. Only solution we could come up with was to ship the gun to an FFL in MD and I’ll do the transfer there. They gave me my mags out of the case since those aren’t going to be legal in MD and I went on my way.

Update about the circus I dealt with today........

this morning I get to thinking about it and realize there will prob be an issue in MD too since I don’t have an address in that state to list on the 4473 or on the BS state background check MD also requires. I decide to call the FFL my gun was going to ship to and asked about my situation. The guy laughs and says “hmm that’s a good one man, I have no idea” he suggested I call the MD state police to ask.

I call the State and of course they don’t answer phones right now and direct me to send my question in an email. So I type up a very detailed email exhaling my situation and wait for the response.....

In the mean time I decide to give VA state police a call and ask for myself if there was anyway they do my background check with the proof of residency that I do have. The lady who answered finally told me the same story they told the FFL here last night and that there wasn’t going to be anyway they could do it for a handgun. My next thought was that I’ll just get a VA state ID and be done with it. The lady from the state police told me that would be fine but just to know that wouldn’t be able to use it to purchase a firearm until after having the ID for at least 30 days for some retarded reason. At this point I’m thinking I’m just gonna have to suck it up, get the ID and wait the 30 days, so I go onto the VA DMV site to schedule and apt, since that’s the only way they are doing them right now, only to find out that there aren’t any at any DMV near me all the way through the end of July at least (that’s as far as the calendar went to) so FML.....

About this point, I actually got a response from a Sgt in the MD State police firearms division with a very short, simply reply of “you will be fine to purchase in Maryland with your orders” so I said cool and called the FFL back in MD and told them what they said and that I would be having the gun shipped to him soon. He told me to get on the State website and fill out some MD77 form to apply for a handgun and come see them when the gun arrives so I can begin my “7 day wait period”.

I make an account and start filling this MD nonsense out and surprise surprise, it demands that I enter a MD address....... I am beyond frustrated at this point so I enter my commands’s address (which is MD) and hit submit. I guess we’ll see what happens.....it should not be this effing difficult for a law abiding citizen to try and legally purchase a damn gun......
At the end of the day, all this really on me, I should have specified “handgun” and not just said “gun” when I initially asked the dealer in VA several months ago, but still very annoying..

Hopefully all this flowed and made sense, I’m having a beer, typing on my phone and thoroughly pissed off right now.
 
I’m gonna have a 320. Friend of mine sent me to Billy’s with one a few weeks ago to break in for him. We shot the shit out of it. Great shooting gun. I gotta have one

oh I halfway jokingly asked them last night “say I don’t want this anymore and my friend (who is a VA resident) comes up here to get this, would that work?”.....they weren’t buying it.....
 
I love my M17, probably in my top 3 best shooters
I know you got an M18 they're essentially the same

If I hadn’t got to lay eyes on it then that actually wouldn’t surprise me with how much of a cluster this has turned into.

The seller was a actually great, ordered on last Friday afternoon from a dealer out of FL and it was here in VA at my FFL on Wednesday. Hell, even my dealer here has been excellent, they made every effort they could to work out a solution for me and would hold it as long as need be. They even covered the shipping to the new FFL in MD for me.

Well got the email today that the king decided to grant me permission to pick up my gun so I swung by the shop after work and just got all my stuff put on it. Haven’t got to shoot it yet, but hopefully soon. It’s definitely not a Glock, but I think it will grow on me.
