Sorry for the pencil renderings but, it should show my idea. I plan on direct threading this onto a 8.5 inch 300bo AR and will mainly be used with subs and eventually a Marlin 1894cst in 357/38 and will be used with subsonic 38 mainly.

At some point I’ll point it on a 10.5 223 AR and probably 30-30 full power but, that’s not my main goal.

1. How large should the bore be? I was thinking .430?

2. I’m planning on 7 totality cones. The first three in SS and the next in 4 in Ti.

Here is the rendering. I’m open to any and all advice.

I don’t have any of it in hand yet but, looks like the spacing maybe .095 too short so guess I’ll grab an extra .500 piece of spacer and cut it perfect if needed.

If everything is direct thread...

I’d shorten the blast chamber, shorten the big spacers, and get at least 3 more baffles in it.

General rule is to have bore .060” over projectile, and you’d go a little bigger depending on how much you trust your machining skill.

For mainly subs, or even a fairly balanced mixture, I’d even consider putting a couple radials instead of 60° cones. ;)

So go with the 1.5 blast chamber and throw in a few more baffles?

I see guys with QD setups planning the blast baffle to be 1/4” from the brake/flash hider.

A 1.5” spacer that has the cone going inside for 3/4” or so sounds like it wouldn’t be a bad plan.

FWIW...a lot of commercial cans have a little gap between the last baffle and the end cap. If you get enough spacers and cones to fill it up, you could even move some of the spacers around and see if you notice a difference.
