Anyone have any experience with these? They've caught my eye, especially a karambit designed by Doug Marcaida. I've heard good things about them but haven't actually seen many people carry them. Seeing if you guys have any opinions on this brand.

I’ve been looking at them online for awhile. Been hoping to run across one in person I could inspect. No luck so far. Tagged in for interest.

I like the 479 but not sure how I would really use it nor have I seen it in person. So I have not purchased one. I did buy a fixed blade ring handle karambit to play with and it is a neat concept.

When I was at Ed's we sold a fair amount of their karambit folders. We had started carrying them by request. We sold every one we ordered every time. But that is the limit of my experience with them.

You hear any complaints? Normally I’d just pull the trigger and get one and see what’s what, but I can’t find any locally, and it’s a fair amount to spend.

Nope. Most of the guys who requested them were LE and many were regulars. They seemed to be pleased with them. Some of the regulars and I stayed in touch for 3 or 4 years past purchase. But I'm given to understand that the karambit design was carried a lot but used little.

Without training it’s terribly dangerous for the user. With training and a lot of practice it’s quite the weapon.

I get that. Not interested in a knife fight. Tried it once. Wouldn't recommend it...

I prefer a daily useful blade, ideally something with a belly...

Oh sure, I carry a folding tanto for opening boxes, cutting random things, prying things open, whatever else. I’m looking at this as an option if things REALLY go sideways. I’ve trained with them for a long time, just never owned one I could carry.
