Oh man, I need some range time. I was looking at my shooting log. Never owned a gun until June 2020, but I really got into it! Bought a Sig P320, then a 22 rifle. Took a bunch of classes and learned all I could. Bought a VP9 and silencers for the guns. Went through 4K rounds, had a lot of fun! Bought more guns, had fun with sporting clays, bought an AR15 and later built one (both upper and lower). Took more classes! Started meeting my daughter at the range every week to shoot. Life was good!

Since mid-November I've been mired in work and family issues. Last range trip was last October. I have the two silencers I was so eager to get sitting on a shelf, still new-in-box. :(

I still check in here daily and enjoy the community, but I really need to get to the range. I feel like a total poseur having not fired a round in 4+ months.

No real question here, just venting a bit. Maybe should've posted in off topic. Also, it's Friday night...

A poseur is anyone who takes a hobby more seriously than you do. Therefore it's impossible for YOU to be a poseur.

I went over a year without shooting just a lot but ago. Didn't hurt me any. Live your life the best you can and try not to worry so much.

Last time I shot was last summer. Life happened! LoL.

I finally made it back to the range today! Got to TSA at 11a and spent 45 minutes shooting. Tried out a new monocular for checking the target. It was good to shoot again after 5+ months off. I did okay. Sadly I was over-caffeinated and a bit jittery -- I think this is the first time I've shot this early in the day.

Just as information, you can practice holster draw, presentation, dry fire, remedial action drills and reloads without firing a shot in the comfort of your own home. For free.
Do this. Works wonders for actual range ability.

And makes you remember to hit the range.

I only go to TSA to eat because every time I've been there the last 3 trips, I haven't shot but used the cafe.

I practice draw with my EDC weekly, but I can't remember the last time I went to a range. I've shot some, just not formally in a while.
I'm rough on my EDC, so it gets crusty, and head out back to make sure it functions being as filthy as it is. It has never failed.

Your call, but I would recommend going over your EDC and Holster, making sure there's no lint, it's clean and lubricated, no loose screws or issues with the holster

Once a month, first day of the month works well

A reliable vehicle that isn't maintenanced will leave you on the side of the road at some point

The gun may do its job, but it also needs for you to do yours to some degree

At the very least... brush the lint off it and make sure that it's lubricated

Glad you were able to get back on the range. It does make a body weak when it's not used! :d

Just a thought about one of your comments; "Took a bunch of classes and learned all I could.'

I've been shooting, studying & enjoying firearms for over 50 years & I STILL haven't learned all I could! :D :D
You have a lifelong ability to learn more! Go for it!

I agree! I just got in a rut at the indoor range and also have been. Looking forward to joining an outdoor range and learning new things.

Outdoors better

Happier

Fresher air

Less noise/decibels

Friendlier people (because you can talk)
