Not sure how I feel about it. One, she persevered, embraced the suck. Two, it was foolish, she could have injured herself for life. Three, I'm curious what "accident" made these injuries come about. Four, good on her for pushing through it.

...and it looks like she may have gotten her stripe ( promoted to PFC ) and Expert rifle badge - probably not a slacker.

On the other hand there are breaks and there are breaks - like hairlines, etc. They can be excruciating, but sometimes people don't even know they have them until an X-ray.

I went to Navy boot at Great Lakes in Feb and March, a ton of ice and snow. We'd march somewhere and guys would slip and go down, breaking their wrists, ankles, etc., and have to be recycled. I was bound and determined to not stay one second longer than I had to, no matter what injury I might have got, I was going to push through it if at all possible.

In recon school we had guys with pneumonia, fractures, etc., push through till the end, not knowing how bad the injury was.

Not that uncommon, lots of females get this. Usually caused from stress fractures during the hikes. They have to take longer strides to keep up and that’s what causes the injuries. Back in 2010 my wife went to USMC OCS and was medically dropped after 7 weeks for the same issue.

Stress fractures, sure, I know. In the article she refers to an "accident" during a hike. I wonder if she had underlying pathology (stress fractures) that were exacerbated from her "accident" (fall? That would do it). I saw some WMs recycled at SOI for same.

Damn, bro, that's incredible about your wife, and not surprising. That's a humbling program, and it's crazy how much running they do (compared to enlisted boot).

this is very close to what my wife has been dealing with for over 2 years.

could go in to all the BS she’s had to deal with both from docs and leadership, but maybe some other time
