Gaston Co. Woman arrested after shooting man sitting in back of patrol car, police say

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities are investigating after police say a woman shot a man while he was in the back of a patrol car Tuesday afternoon in Gaston County.

According to Cramerton police, officers responded around 1 p.m. to a call about a man who was armed with a gun outside an apartment complex on Hampton Madows Lane off Mayflower Avenue in Cramerton.

When officers got there, they said they didn’t find a gun, but they put the man in the back of a patrol car with the window partially rolled down.

That’s when a woman came outside, went over to the police car and shot him. Police said the man was rushed to a hospital for surgery but is in stable condition.

The responding officers were all near the patrol car when the shooting happened, but said they were unable to stop the woman in time.

She complied with their orders to drop the gun and was taken into custody, according to police.

It’s unclear what led to the shooting or if the woman and man knew each other, but the Gaston County Police Department is investigating.

No officers were hurt.

Im interested in what develops here, what led her to do this, what, possibl, did he do to her or someone she cares about.

So look ... you two stay here and guard the guy in the car, right? Got that?

Oh yes. We stay here and guard the guy in the car unless a woman comes up to shoot him.

They believe the gun was related to a domestic situation between him and another man.

So, she warned dude once already to stop screwing her man or she would shoot him?

I figure he threatened her with the gun, hid the gun and told her to shut up when the po-po showed up, she retrieved the gun and shot him.

"They have not said if she is facing any charges." The reporter is very dumb; of course the woman would face charges for shooting a prisoner in police custody.

"The Gaston County Police Department is investigating what the Cramerton police officers were doing at the time of the shooting." This deserves an award for understatement; just WTH were those Cramerton officers doing when somebody walked up and shot their prisoner in their squad car?
