I was at the range with @JustKeepSwimming today. My Geissele SSA-E, which has functioned flawlessly for the 3 years I've had it, went full auto and burned the remainder of a mag (6 rounds). I had held the trigger to the rear to make use of the trigger reset function, which inadvertently caused the burst to sustain itself. I could not duplicate the full auto malfunction again, after running several magazines through the rifle and intentionally pulling the trigger to the rear is hard as I could.

Nothing is broken, nothing is installed incorrectly. The lower is a brand new Rainier forged lower and the pin holes are in spec.

I'm at a loss

Report back when you have detailed instructions

While I am just as clueless regarding the "why" it happened it was pretty damn cool sounding! All of the sudden a "rainbow of brass" goes flying in front of the shooting bench. Not to mention all rounds stayed on target at 300 yards.

Hopefully you can find some type of explanation so you are not always wondering, every time you get behind that trigger, if she is going to cheat on you again.

Great day shooting outside of that! Thanks again for all the help sighting in the new rifle @11B CIB

I had a very early Gieselle SSA trigger that started to double after about 5 years.

I contacted them, sent it in, and had a brand new one in the mail 3 days later.

Sure it wasn't the bolt/firing pin?

I had a issue in a rem 700 that once the firing pin got kinda stuck out every time I racked the bolt forward it would go bang! Funny side note was... I hit the target on both of the what I would call a AD's which is just another good reason to be sure you are on target.

I emailed them. But it has run flawlessly for thousands of rounds since 2013....if there is some sort of issue I'm sure Geissele will take care of it

Had an ALG ACT do this year before last. Called and they replaced it. Can't recall what they suspected the problem was but turn around was quick

They are bout 2 miles down the road and good Christian folk! If its wrong they will fix it....period.

I had two thoughts: first was possibility that a primes popped out and found it's way into the trigger group.

Other thought was what BOG mentions: slam firing due to dirty FP/Bolt or debris in that area. I'd disassemble bolt and check thoroughly.
Heard of this happenning with lightweight BCG's and regular firing pins, which is why many go to a titanium pin for that application.

Just throwing it out there. I guess the Geissele name alone makes me look elsewhere, which is probably dumb. I am sure they aren't perfect, but they sure do have a good rep.

I would second the idea of a primer on the lose being the cause. You still will need to make sure though as a faulty trigger could kill someone.

Neither. I'd cleaned the rifle to an immaculate degree (suppressed fire makes a mess) and had shot 12 confirmation rounds through it at 100yds and was moving to 300yd dope and my first shot was a nice burst. All the brass was factory (surprisingly and rare for me) Hornady ELD; all recovered all in tact

BCG is a Rainier Arms nitride M16 full auto carrier

Since I shot maybe 6 rounds afterward at the range (finishing the mag and seeing if the malfunction happened again) and another full mag at home, slowly and ensuring full rearward travel and then reset, no issues

Geissele CS said shoot another 100 rounds to confirm no issues and if it did happen they'd replace it
