So I did what people have told me I can’t do. I have completely locked up my Smith and Wesson 5906. Those that know me understand that I destroy things I touch. @Bull Durham knows this. It can be a blessing and a curse at times. Yesterday at the range I had a malfunction, racked the slide, pulled the trigger, and got another click. Try to rack the slide again and I can only pull the slide back maybe an 1/8 of an inch. Drop the mag, and same thing still happens. Well, it’s still locked up and I’m looking for solutions. Any advice? Hopefully this doesn’t turn into an @sr30 thread.

The good news is that most parts are readily available and cheap.

@ChickenHawk
I pulled a 5906 outta the safe and looked it over. If you haven’t done so yet, you might wanna remove the grips and see if you notice anything unusual inside. It isn’t likely but can’t hurt to look.

I did that last night. Everything looks like it’s where it is supposed to be.

Last month my wife was shooting my Shield and limp wristed it. Spent casing (aluminum) fed back into the chamber and bulged/wedged in. Pulled, pushed, cussed, pleaded. Wouldn't budge. Out of despiration I hit the muzzle on a window frame on the "saloon" in the bay, causing the extractor to let go of the rim. Was able to coax the case out and went on shooting (no more aluminium for the Sheild). I don't suggest you use the caveman method I used, though.
