Thinking of getting into the suppressor game with a one and done type of goal. While I am at it I want to take advantage of the silencerco deal that is going on.

So my current idea of a lineup is.

Hybrid
Spectre
Maxim 50
Octane of some flavor. Probably the 9 or the 45k.

Thinking the hybrid cause it does just about everything under the sun, Spectre cause I shoot a decent amount of 22mag and teaching the kids with a 22lr is always fun.

Maxim 50 cause I like getting out into the woods during blackpowder season. Deer are not as spooked then, and I run less of a risk of getting shot while on gamelands. Plus

Octane is the one I am least familiar with. Probably would go for a 9, cause while the hybrid works with everything it is a bit fat to use with some guns, and still see the sights easily. But the 45k would be a bit shorter/lighter, but louder.

Any thoughts or opinions on these setups?

What hosts do you plan to use them on? Pistols/PCCs/SBRs/bolt guns?

probably a bit of everything. If I did something akin to an SBR would probably be a 300 blackout pistol. Most of my collection is military surplus and shotguns. Only have one threaded firearm and it is an AR in 5.45 which I won't want to shoot in my can.

Definitely going with a 22 pistol, like the smith and wesson compact.

I shoot a lot of 30-06 and 45 auto. Also at some point plan on making a 357 lever gun host setup for a quick field gun type deal.

•Maxim 50 from @jkupp2000 (listed in NFA classifieds)
•get a free Octane 45 from SiCo

•Saker 762, Omega 300 or Chimera 300 from local dealer
•get free Spectre from SiCo

...that's what I'd do.

(I personally wouldn't buy a Hybrid unless I had a .458 SOCOM or .45-70 I wanted to suppress)

Or go nuts...and do this:

1. Buy Maxim 50 from JKupp
2. Get a Octane 45 from SiCo
3. Buy a Saker 762, Chimera 300, Omega 300 (or even a Hybrid) from Capitol Armory
4. Get a free Octane 9 from SiCo
5. Buy a Saker 762, Saker 556, Chimera, Omega, Hybrid from CA
6. Get a free Spectre from SiCo
7. Get a free Warlock from CA

Yep...buy 3, get 4 free

Or, do ^this^...except get an Octane 9 instead of a Spectre...and work a deal with @JRHorne if he decides to sell off a rimfire can or two. ;)

Any reason against the hybrid in particular?
I tend to shy away from do-it-all cans.

It's listed on SiCo's site as a pistol can. It's big for a pistol can (especially the OD), and the length/weight will be even more noticeable when comparing it to 9mm cans. It's way overbored for a 5.56/7.62 rifle.

If you were going to buy a Hybrid and a Spectre, and never buy another can...go for it. Wouldn't be perfect, but you could shoot almost everything. But since you're looking at buying other stuff, I wouldn't buy one unless the 458/45-70 were in the picture. Now, if you did the B3G4 deal, and wanted a Hybrid to cover future host purchases, I probably wouldn't steer you away too hard. But I'd want a real rifle can and real pistol cans in the collection as well.

Yeah that big deal entered my mind but way too much cash for me. Least at this juncture. One of those go broke saving money type things.

Also I work at a gun shop so I run the risk of stupid awesome things coming jn from time to time. So supressing a 458 or 4570 is never out of the question, just not the definite plan.

Although those subsonic 670 grain monsters will probably be amazing to shoot

Just figured I'd toss it out there. Something to think about would be do it, but hold off on buying some of the stamps for a couple months. The free ones from SiCo say "up to 4 months" for them to be received anyway. Buy one stamp a month for the next 7 months, and be in continual anticipation of seeing what gets approved when. :D

Not trying to get you into financial troubles, just making sure that you were thinking about your options.

Oh no your idea is quite elegant in its execution and beautiful in its simplicity. Wish I could do it.

To the one (Who shall remain nameless) that reminded me privately that the Salvo 12 is a thing...... I HATE you right now. Also that on a VEPR12 will be awesome.
