Glock 17. World's finest hand gun!

The world's finest handgun is a pre-1943 U.S. Army Colt M1911A1. Though I would be interested in a Glock 17 Gen 1 solely because if I have to carry plastic, it's the best i've felt.

I just got my second G19 this week. Love the gen 4s. But taking down the mags is a pita. I have about 12 and each one has a different personality/ hate relationship.

I just ordered a G Tul and mag brush after dropping several in the mud during reloads at a match this past weekend. I don't think I ever tried to take the mags apart on my Grock .45's, and the little G43 baseplates slide right off. Who knew that the G19 baseplates are hermetically sealed? I sure didn't.

This thread kind of reminds me of a movie line I once heard.

"Really smart people don't have to tell people how smart they are." That is a rough paraphrase, but you get the point.

I agree the 17 is the best. But its a bit large for some concealed carry. I usually carry a G23. But have been advised the G19 is the last Glock I need to buy.

The Gen 2 G17 was the first 9mm handgun I ever shot. Compared to everything else on the market at the time, it was great. That was 1994....not so much anymore. Glock is no longer using quality finishes with Tennifer and no longer can claim the capacity throne or reliability throne. Therefore I only own one Glock and its a G43...and this is my high capacity 9mm combat sidearm:

Fine choice im also in the FN camp. It hardly gets better for the price.

But have you heard about how awesome my glock is?

I agree with your "ugly as sin comment". Sigh!

I sold my G21, gen3. I could never get use to the grip size. I have medium sized hands. I pocket carry a lot. When the pocket allows, I carry a G42. When the pocket won't allow, I carry a lowly Taurus TCP. No offense meant to the Taurus crowd with the "lowly Taurus" comment. But it ain't the firearm the G42 is.
Why does everyone hate Taurus?

Blasphemy.

"Finest handgun" my *ss.

Superman wouldn't duck if you threw a Glock at him.

The title should read, "Glock, the finest handgun for those with 80 IQs." Why? Because they are indeed excellent service pistols for the dumbed-down masses. They are rock simple and reliable w/ a minimum of maint. and intended for 3rd world conscripts, just like the AK rifle....That is why I laugh when I hear that the Glock is the AK of the pistol world....Yep, sure is!
Piss, give me a good 4" medium frame .38 Spl. revolver or Hi-Power any day, any where in the world and I'll be happy as a pig in sheot.

HAHAHA!!! No hate on either the AK nor the Glock 17. Excellent weapons that I'd carry anywhere.....I just despise hearing all the bullshit hype & propaganda from all corners.

I'd like to see the many gear queers wake up in a shack, somewhere in the 3rd world, hearing sporadic firing, dust themselves off, see a small table walk over to it, only to see the following: a PM Makarov ( & 2 extra mags), a 4"pencil barrel S&W M10 (& 2 speed loaders), a PPsH 43 (w/ 4 mags), and a MAT-49 (w/4 mags) and 50 spare round for each and that's it.
That is what you've got to fight your way to the safety of friendly lines 25 miles away.......Most would absolutely sheot in their pants and melt down right then and there....

Truly, the ONLY reason I don't like Glocks...well, OK, the MAIN reason...is they're ugly as sin. And I won't own an ugly gun.

For all that I'll rag on Glocks, they didn't get their reputation by being pieces of cr*p.

Love my sexy CZs.

But I carry Grocks. It's like having a Porsche in the garage for weekend fun, and having a Honda Civic for all the mundane everyday stuff when you need to get where you are going with reliability, affordability, and good enough performance.

While the Glock 19 is beloved by a lot of Glock shooters, it is a bit less than the G17. Less barrel length, less round capacity, less grip area, less accurate, etc.

If you're thinking about carrying and you think the G19 is the best option, over the G17, don't you know there are more concealable 9mms, than the G19? Like the Glock 43.

After owning and shooting many brands of hand guns, I have become a Glock fanboy. The G17 is the best of the Glocks.
that much is obvious... :p

I was a semi-Glock fanboy, and then I shot a SW...and then a FN...and then a CZ...

Glocks are good. They do what they do. But I generally find them to be souless tools that lack refinement and elegance.

Besides, now that I am a CZ fanboy the Glocks are harder to match with my man purse and beard oils.

I can offer you a locally sourced linen kerchief that was brought back to the states via an indigenous tribesman outreach program.

Looks more like a correlation between guns and more money than sense...
CZ's cost in the neighborhood of mid $600.00 to a little over $700.00. That is about retail for the new MOS & Gen 5 Glocks. I would never pay retail for a Glock but would for the right CZ. :p

All the guys I know have WAY more than that in their CZs...

CZ's can be had well under 500.00 for a poly one.

Yep, and some of those poly wonders (specifically some of the P07) are made just down the street from the Taurus plant in Brazil. (new CZ plant).

Never seen one but not surprised. Very affordable guns.
