Well finally, got a double charge of Bullseye in one of my 45s and BOOM. The guy in stall next to me came over as he thought i was shooting a 50 cal. Then he said, " you are bleeding man". parts were all over the floor.
A piece of case blew out and hit me on lower right corner of lip, which caused tooth to cut inside. could not stop the bleeding so off to ER I went for 4 stitches ( 2 inside, 2 out).
Wife made me sell all reloading stuff.
unloaded 700 questionable rounds. i believe it happened messing with range brass, where a few were small primer which messed up my process and i cycled twice with one in powder stage of dillon.
all healed now and still shooting my older reloads.
pictures tell it all. Slide shows no damage, Moral of story....Be Careful Out There.IMG_1901.JPG
Guys at Point Blank Range in Matthews were Great. Tried to stop bleeding but hospital was a Block away.

Dang. Sorry to hear it. Been there. Luckily I didn't require stitches (just a 9mm). I still have a can full of reloads I'm not willing to shoot from that batch... Ammo is cheap right now so I'm not worried about reloading anything soon...

Gee, my wife would probably let me keep the reloading stuff and then double the life insurance policy. :(

Glad it wasn't worse, but hate it for you. Hope you got some new underwear outta the deal!;)

Thanks for the reminder to stay careful.

a double of BI will not fit in my 9mm cases so the 2000 rnds of that i have loaded are safe!

Sell the reloading kit?

My wife bought me my first press.

NO way do we sell.

Sorry to hear that one let go. Glad you know where/what happened.

I've had two squibs. All I can blame it on was a bad primer.

Totally uncalled for.

A fluffier powder would have probably saved my situation. Don't think it was a double charge. I found several cases from a half grain short to a grain and a half heavy... I was using tight group...

I'm glad you're OK but sorry to hear it spooked you so. All humans make mistakes, so get good at finding them.

I've been fortunate that my one and only experience with this was a no-powder squib that stopped the gun. Now I'm pretty much 100% focused on the gunpowder while I'm reloading. I even switched my progressive press to a manual drop for more control. Everything else you can check after the fact but you get one chance to correctly charge a case and no way to verify after seating a bullet.

Ouch...…… glad you hurt no worse. Thanks for the reminder..... we all need it sometimes.

I imagine that was rather loud inside a bay and would distrub the guy beside you. Glad your ok and everyone makes mistakes if you don’t your not doing anything.

Wow! Glad you are ok. A good reminder to me to remember to always double and triple check. I have been thinking about adding extra light. I definitely will now.

Glad you're no worse for wear. I load on a progressive, but have a light aimed at the case after the powder drop. It slows me down a tad, but I check EVERY case for powder now. I've had 3 squibs this year, and have caught all right after the bang. One even sent the round far enough down to let the next round chamber, but I knew it felt way too soft on the squib. Sure enough, it was there, close to the end of the barrel. Be safe fellas.

i just got out of sync running into some 45acp cases with small primers. over 20 years without an issue. just got too comfortable. now i can shoot up those 1000s of reloads i made before i ran into those oddball cases.

I am glad you didn’t get hurt.
I’m not sure I understand what you mean by “wife made me” or “wife will buy me bullets”...
I assume that is a colloquial saying.... or are you being literal, as in she tells you what to do?

So, now you get to buy brand new reloading gear? ???
no, i had 2 Dillon 550b. one 45, one 9 mm. sold both. have a couple thousand rnds of 9mm an probably 1500 45 from before i ran into small primer cases.
so at 70, i have enough for the rest of my life. Dont shoot weekly like i used to when sons were home. if i need anything, ill just buy it.

I have a 650 with a powder check in one station... it's saved my butt before. I only load pistol calibers on it, rifles are loaded on a Lyman Turret press one at a time. Glad you didn't get hurt!

I haven't loaded 9mm in years... got lotsa rounds left, and it's so inexpensive that it's not worth loading 9mm, yet. Same thing with 30-30.

I did 30-06, 6.5mm Swedish , 32 Winchester and 223 with single stage until all Brass was reloaded, now they are gone too. Hard to double in a 9mm case, it overflows first!.

Does the powder check catch a double ? or only a miss ?

Glad you were not hurt any worse. I have to bring into question your wife's logic for "making" you sell your reloading gear. If she was in a car accident where she was at fault and slightly injured would she be ok with you making her sell her car and not driving anymore? What if one of you cut yourself with a kitchen knife? Would you throw those away also?
