Great site. Thanks

I've been itching to build a cage dipole for 40M for a while. This weekend (after range time) may be a good time to begin gathering the components required.

A good tree and a good pulley. It's an awesome combination!

Good site, thanks for the link.

How does your new antenna compare to the Windom antenna if at all?

A true Windom uses widowed ladder line. The OCF uses the offest center feed point like the Windom but uses coax and a balun to feed it. Same concept applies of multi band use.

Not to be confused with the Carolina Windom that also has a vertical radiator.

Another thing that I'm learning is that there are as many opinions on antennas as there are antennas, if not more. I've decided to build an OCF like lawless did and anytime I mention it, I get inundated with suggestions of what I should do instead.

One suggestion that I did get that I think was good was to buy a copy of the ARRL antenna book and at least read the basic theory parts.

On a different note, I hear DX Eningeering has cable / wire for the dipole part that won't stretch as much as THHN and hence will keep its tuning better, but I haven't looked into it.

I got a lot of suggestions too, and I am sure that they were good ones, but I have seen Howard's shack and trust what he tells me. His works very well, and now my setup mirrors his and I could not be happier. I want the book too. I like learning and antenna theory is very interesting to me at the moment. There is the DXE wire and the flexweave wire and all kinds. I figure the THHN in 12g is gonna do pretty well for a long while. We'll see. I can't wait for you to mget your stuff going brother.

I went ahead and ordered the book, it looks like the hardcover version is already gone. The ARRL sent a coupon code so I br ahead and ordered it, with the coupon and no tax it was almost the same price as amazon, I would rather pay shipping than sales tax.

I got this PDF, I attached it.
