The greatest wife in the world got me a unicorn for our 20th anniversary. This is for USPSA Production. I must admit that this is the first DA/SA Gun I've owned. I've always shot striker fired, 1911's, and revolvers.
Humbly asking anybody with experience on these...anything I need to know? I heard it's good out of the box and needs nothing...is that true? Is there something from like Cajun gunworks or something that I should consider for competition? Training suggestions ...?
Any comments welcomed.

I am not a comp guy but own the same gun. I would swap the smaller stock safety with the larger thumb safety that is included. The gun is pretty damn good right out of the box. If you are going to shoot production you want to make sure any mods you are making do not hurt its production status. Many of CGWs upgrade available for the Shadow 2 are Production Class legal. If it was me I would shoot the gun as is a few times in matches or match type scenarios and then go from there. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with how good this gun is right out of the box. At its price point it is hard to beat. YOUR WIFE DID GOOD!

Ken Hackathorn and I talked about the Shadow 2 during the training I and a few other CFF members attended. Ken stated he thought the Shadow 2 right out of th box was one of the best values in handguns in the market today. He and I agreed it is amazing what you can do with it. For me I am the one holding it back. LOL Enjoy it.

If you want to make amazing right out of the box get this kit. If you don't want to install it they can do that for you as well. I intended to get this done on my Shadow 2 but I ended up getting a fully Cajunize all Steel P01 so I gave up my spot for the Shadow 2 work. I have to get back in line but there are so many other priorities.

Solid advice. Probably will go this route

The only downside to the gun I have found is that it is heavy and as a result swings a little slower than lighter guns but at the same time it soaks up recoil like nothing else I own. The gun barely moves. It almost feels like it has a compensator on it.

Oh also some people change the grips because they feel the alum gets slick if their hands are sweaty.

She bought the wrong color. You shoukd send that one to me, and have her buy you another one.

Yes if it is not black with the blue grips it is a fake. Send it to CZfool68 and he will get it to the proper authorities.

Just get used to the hammer down start and double action first shot and it will all fall into place fast. Single action is ridiculously smooth.

Best purchase I have made. Sold the glock I was running in USPSA since I didn't even like to shoot it after I got this gun.

Mine is still stock by the way. At first I wanted the double action lightened but it was only because I wasn't used to it coming from shooting striker fired for so long.

Perfect out the box in my opinion!

So sweet.
I would check out Enos CZ forum for work/mods.
If it were mine, Iā€™d look at springs and polishing before spending big money on anything. I really want one of those.

@Travis B and @Ben B both went to SA/DA guns after doing quite well with striker guns.
Maybe they have advice on the shooting aspects of making the switch.

Congrats on the new blaster!

Pretty solid gun right of the box, but if youā€™re willing to spend about $75 and 2-3 hours it will make a good gun a great gun! Iā€™m really digging my SP-01 in Carry Optics!

Dry fire that double action several thousand times and you will never notice it in competition. Pick up a few trigger return springs as backups. I had to replace mine about every 6 months.

So, somebody school me. I'm sure there is a reason that I am missing but, why shoot these in DA for the first shot, rather than disenage the safety on draw and shoot SA first shot?

USPSA production rules. Hammer down start so 1st shot would have to be double action unless you want to rack the slide

Would that include 1911's as well?

Great,, you need something to make you better.
Kinda like Aaron Judge using a aluminum bat.

If you are shooting production then yes
What class/division would one shoot a 1911, or anything else typically carried cocked and locked?

1911s have their own Division - Single Stack.
Cocked and locked is also ok in Open, Limited, and L10.
Production is DA or striker fired only.

@Starkherz199 was the GM card in the bottom of the box or is it a send in the UPC sorta deal?

The thin grips suck. Get some Lok G10 grips that are thicker. Aluminum does get slick when it's wet much faster than wood or G10.

Play around with doing slide lock reloads. The thumb safety can get in the way of hitting it with your right thumb (like a 1911). That will take some repetitions to get used to.

Also spend some time getting used to the front serrations. Feels weird at first but when it starts to click, you're golden.

Training suggestions: two wide open targets at 10 yards. Draw, DA/SA on the first, then SA/SA on the second. Get comfortable with the DA transition but also running the SA trigger quickly. Work on each piece in isolation if needed (DA/SA pairs then SA/SA pairs). Make the targets partials when you want to start really testing yourself.

Don't try to stage the DA, just roll through it. If it ends up going bad, shoot a makeup. Trying to pause and resume the DA never works.

It was right on top...but it was for Limited 10.

Thanks Ben...I will do all of what you said.
On a side note...I just checked out the G10 grips. Kind of an overwhelming selection. It will take me to next year to decide.

If you see my post on CZ Pics thread from yesterday you can see my Tactical Sport.
It has black LOK thin bogies, that I had made a bit thicker. These are VERY grippy.

Am I right that the factory grips are equivalent to the thin grips on LOK?
