Tuning up the kids and I noticed gas tube length differences.
Actually I suspected I had some differences because of using AR-15 Gas Tubes with a 308 platform there is a difference in the route ( distance ) it takes to get to the gas key for a 308 BCG vs the gas key for a 5.56 rig.
Yes, the Vast Majority have told/informed me that that's the way it is , everybody is doing it.
Ideally one would want the gas tube to seat as far into the gas key as possible.
In the two pics , both being 308 uppers, the one with the Delta Ring is an Unadulterated PSA and the other upper is full of "Mystery Parts." However the "Mystery Part 308 upper" is assembled with a PSA 308 upper and is the only PSA part in it.
Neither upper has given any problems or any noticeable lack of performance with the PSA 308 upper , with the short gas tube.
The PSA upper has a Midlength gas system and the "Mystery Machine" is Rifle Length. This should not matter as the PSA gas tube is not long enough to engage the gas key as deep as the other one. I also am tuning yet another 308 with a Rifle Length gas system and its gas tube is,, SHORT.
Of the two Rifle Length gas tubes, one is from ( you guessed it ) China, which is the longer of the two , and the other is from an American Manufacture , the short one.
OK, some may experience different levels of difficulties or frustration and many(?) will not.
