Just got word that there are conversations starting between the Mayor of Greensboro, (Nancy Vaughn), and Councilperson Hightower and some residents in the community about cancelling and banning the Greensboro Gun show again. They need to hear from us and other legal gun owners, that these are Legal Gun Sales. The shootings that are taking place in Greensboro and other places are done primarily by people without Legal Guns, especially felons. Gun Shows do not promote this kind of activity, but is a legal way for shooters, hunters, and gun collectors to shop, learn and collect legally. Will post some phone numbers, and email's when I can get them.
If anyone has any contacts with the media, TV, or newspapers, please make them aware. We need to get ahead of this. Thanks! Especially any Greensboro residents.

www.greensboro-nc.gov/citycouncil, there is a link to contact city council on that page. Also look up the mayor's facebook page, and comment there would be a good starting place.

They don’t learn apparently. I’ve spoke to someone today on Mark Robinson’s campaign. Gonna try to get him to show up at another council meeting.

They've done the same thing the last 2 years.
    Some people never learn.

Do private seller at gun show perform NICS check? Only purchased one gun at a show, and I still had background heck done using good ol technology (um cell phone). So not even sure what the gunshot 'loophole' even is, unless they are talking about the few FTF transaction that may occur between attendees in a parking lot or something. In that case, good grief. Most firearms in the hands of criminals (already illegal lol), are stolen (illegal activity) or straw purchased (illegal already). So, that seem to imply that even in the absence of any type of legitimate legal study, considering less than a handful of scenarios, 99% of firearms in criminal hands already involve crimes being committed.

I guess its a slight digression since we are not talking about additional laws per se, but back to topic in the sense that it begs the question "what are they trying to accomplish?". A gun show (to me anyway) is an opportunity to peruse the inventory of vendors that would otherwise be far beyond my reach, as it draws vendors from all over state.

no method i know of for a private seller to perform a NICS check directly... their due diligence is performed by asking to see a NCDL and a CCP or a PPP.... and this would seem to meet the legal statue ....

I've mentioned it before, but I may have loopholed back around '87.

I was the ripe ol' age of 19. My Dad and I were at the gun show inside the Merchandise Mart in Charlotte. We stopped at a table and was looking at a 4" 29-2 in the wooden box with blue interior (if memory serves me correctly). I asked the man behind the table what I needed to buy the gun (this was also to be my first gun ever). He said just cash, because it was his private collection. And $400 later, it was mine.

What a shock I received when I got back to my hometown in SC and tried to buy ammo. Not only was I kicked out of the LGS, but was pretty much cursed out at the same time. Just for being 19.

I was also kicked out of the bar that night, that just happened to be beside the gun shop. Also, for being 19. Dang.

It seems that the leaders (haha) of Greensboro think that shutting down the gun show will send the message that Greensboro is leading by example. And that is going to somehow stop thugs from shooting each other.

There is no gun show loophole. Private sales at a gun show have to meet the same legalities they do anywhere else. Dealer sales at a gun show have to meet the same legalities they do anywhere else .

Those who perpetuate this myth are either liars or willfully ignorant.

I think it’s usually around $10. If you don’t mind a hike, it’s probably possible to find spots on the street a couple blocks away.

I thought for the gun show it is $5, but you have to tell them you are coming for the gun show. If it has gone up from that, I don't know about it.

This is a great way to straighten out middle-of-the-road folks (typically listeners, not participants) when dealing with a vocal gun control advocate. Ask "what's the gun show loophole?" and wait for the chorus of "No background checks!" Then calmly explain that, no, a gun show isn't a "temporary law-free zone" where illegal activity is suddenly legal btw the hours of 10AM and 5PM; ALL laws that apply outside the gun show also apply inside the gun show, no exceptions.

And the Greensboro antis aren't suffering from a case of "They Don't Learn." They're simply using the age-old tactic of perseverence, waiting for the one time when the opposition relaxes or doesn't respond in sufficient numbers or in time. Then they get their law, and **** you, gun owner! Ha ha!

Yes, for handguns, by requiring a PPP or a CHP.

No, for long guns. But it is not required by law. The only reason anyone does a NICS check for a long gun is the Feds (BATFU) requires it for ALL transactions by an FFL.

CFF’s table, together with those of @larryh1108 and yours truly, is in the West Room (smaller room to the left as you enter the facility). Catawba Collectibles (@cubrock) is at the front of the room and we’re down the aisle from him (and before the lady selling earrings and the pickle table o_O).

Come say hi and bring money. ;)

just note as verified in the images, the 'small room' has about one third of the available area blocked off by the curtain..... this is the 'smallest' i've seen this show for space .....

Those of us who have been in this room for many years are NOT HAPPY! Promoter told me this week that the room would have more dealers than last show. It has fewer and they really screwed up the table layout trying to compensate for this.

Feel free to tell him we’re not happy too. CFF came back because they told us we’d have a good location. The forum represents nearly 4,000 of their target attendees. It isn’t for me to decide whether CFF will pay them for future shows but it is up to me to decide whether I come back. :(

With the Dixie in Raleigh as well as a C&E in Winston next week I’m guessing some smaller more local dealers are not going to Greensboro this time ... just my thoughts though.

I’ll be there in the morning with an older, fixed-choke era 870 Wingmaster and a set of N-Frame square-butt combat grips. Remarkably, I’m asking about the same for the grips as the shotgun
