Greensboro mayor wants to get rid of gun show

Their building their rules I guess but if they no longer host the show twice a year I'll never attend another event there. They may not miss my money but I'll damn sure not miss their overpriced events and concessions.

Councilwoman acknowledges that it won't do any good, but goes on to say they should "take a stand". More important to show how much you care, than actually do something that will make a difference.

As to the revenue impacts, politicians don't worry about that, they would just respond to the lost revenue by cranking up fees to rent the place, or just jack up taxes. Just like all gun laws, punish the collective innocent and not the individuals that cause the problem.

Don't they sell and serve alcohol at the Greensboro Coliseum during certain events? I honestly don't know but if they do, maybe someone can enlighten Madam Mayor as to the fatal DWI motor vehicle accidents that have been occurring all over the world for decades.

She wants to end the gun shows, then she should be prepared to take on the local beer distributors selling alcohol at the same coliseum after banning their business.

While we're on the subject, she should introduce a measure to city council to draft an ordinance that Greensboro become a dry city.

Afterall, the lives that could be saved banning the Greensboro Gun Show would pale in comparison to the lives saved by banning the sale, possession, and consumption of alcohol within the city limits of Greensboro.

She should stick that in her pipe and smoke it. I'd post a detailed description of where she really should stick it, but I'm upstairs so I won't.

The city of Greensboro is on the liberal side of the scale ... the UNC-G, NC A&T, Elon and a couple smaller ones they’ll have backing within the city. Now some in Guilford Co might make a little noise but the Mayor, City Council and other city officials will likely make a strong play and with the lack of “self thinkers” stand a good chance at it.

On Friday, Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan posted on Facebook about the mass shooting last week in Parkland, Florida.
In it, she advocates for a ban on military-style assault weapons.

Q: So, if I have 10 firearms and one of them is an AR variant, should AR platform rifles get banned, how many firearms do I have left?

A: 10

The following illustrates how I arrived at that answer:

10 -1 would usually equal 9, but in this case, 10 - f*ck you = 10.

I have memories of attending at least one gun show in High Point. I wonder whether the city (and the privately owned International Market Centers) would like the revenue back.

30, I lied because it's none of the F'N governments business

the dumbassery marches on. Y'all let me know when who and where I need to boycott by voting with my wallet. Meanwhile I'm gonna build out 3 more lowers I got cheap, and helping people enjoy shooting ARs. And every other American Rifle that I own ;)

I guess she has no idea that they will have suppressors at the gun show. :)

Saw something about Optics Planet no longer selling mags over 10rd....wth!! That's a bad business move on their part.
Any link to this? I went to the site & there were a LOT of 10-rnd mags, some (like Sig or Glock mags) were either 10 rnd or "N/A" in the description.

I'll look for an official or reliable report. If true, I will send them a note that they've lost any chance at my current or future business.

EDIT: Internet gossip is they are located in IL, Cook county, and that they must comply with the County's 10-rnd limit. The decision was not based on the FL shooting.

We'll see.

Not internet gossip. They sent out a release confirming the action is based on their location.

They won't, years ago I looked into reopening the indoor gun range that was behind one of the Parks car dealerships. I was told by the city council that they don't want anything like that in their city, everything I had to say was completely ignored.

They used to sell beer at the GBO gun show, 25-30 years ago.

Isn't the coliseum owned by the tax payers? So if someone rents it out and I don't believe in their function can we start cherry picking?

Dallas TX Mayor wants the NRA to host their convention someplace else. I'd love to ha e it back here in Charlotte.

Just today (Tuesday) I was going to order a Trijicon Reflex RX34 green dot sight from them for a new rifle I recently purchased. I remembered reading your post from yesterday and decided to go elsewhere and I've purchased quite a bit from them.

The mayor demonstrated her professionalism by opening her mouth without consulting the city's legal authority. Genius! :D

It amazes me how many people who are in authority shoot off their mouth like this. There’s a world of difference between saying “we shouldn’t sell guns in the city” and saying “I wonder what the city council’s authority is over gun shows in the city”.

Hopefully the people who are eligible to vote in Greensboro will recognize that this woman doesn’t have the sense to lead.
