Hey Guys I was just looking into this and found an article Fox8 news from 3 years ago that stated the city and or city council cannot stop a gun show at the coliseum only the coliseum director can. I don't know if that has changed. Thought I would share that. I will see if there is more being reported.

As best I recall, Covid was the justification for postponing/cancelling the shows. Perhaps, having delayed it long enough, the promoter no longer had valid contracts with the Coliseum management who declined to make new ones.

Political influence reaches deep. @Jeppo was correct that Covid was the excuse, not necessarily the reason the show was cancelled. Over the past several years, the coliseum has received millions in funds from the city of Greensboro for capital improvements, etc.

City of Greensboro is the one major reason the last local Six Shooters Show was south of Greensboro (outside city limits) in the middle of nowhere.

Show was shut down by the city due to COVID, along with lots of other events at the coliseum. Eventually, the city got the promoter to agree to a contract buyout, with the city getting the rights to have or not have a show at the coliseum. I assume the conversation went something like this:

City: “You know, we can drag this COVID mess out as long as we want, until your contract is expired. Then you won’t get anything. Let us buy you out and you can walk away with something.”

Promoter: (sees the handwriting on the wall) “Okay.”

It's nuts they stopped the gun show. Here is a link to a concert that prior to it the group put out a video on how to smuggle your drugs in. They had paramedics there to administer narcan. They were a bunch of people that ended up on the ventilators, at a local hospital. One of the CCM Doctors came out and addressed the news on it. The band hires paramedics to contract with them on each stop to administer the narcan yo the overdoses. The city of GREENSBORO is STUPID. I mean the city council not most of the citizens. So they let them do drugs at the concert when the gun show has law abiding citizens attending doing nothing wrong.

Back in my concert going days we use to smuggle airplane bottles Etc.. into GSO Coliseum without any problems. Glad those days are behind me because now I have no patience for the kind of people or things that go on.
