Throwin some shade after how Dead Air is handling/not handling the Sierra 5 issues.

They destroy your old can, the stamp is no longer, then you get a new can and a new stamp. So question, does they count as getting a new suppressor and require a new tax stamp or can they count it as a rebuild or something and just do it?
Ah gotcha. Not as great an option then. They destroy your old can, the stamp is no longer, then you get a new can and a new stamp.
So question, does they count as getting a new suppressor and require a new tax stamp or can they count it as a rebuild or something and just do it?
Either way it would definitely suggest not buying anything from Dead Air if they're that much hassle people would do this.
I wasn't sure if that was a thing or not. Either way they are clearly making hay while their competition drops ball.I'm guessing that as long as the tube isn't damaged then they're going to recore it and that won't need a stamp. Some of the Sierra 5 failures I've seen lead to a damaged tube and that's not as fixable.
Do you have any NFA items? Stamps are attached to the serial number of the item.I wasn't sure if that was a thing or not. Either way they are clearly making hay while their competition drops ball.
I've got one SBR, but my understanding was that the receiver is the only NFA item. If I take that receiver and put different parts on it it's still the same item. So unless every part of a suppressor is the serialized part I'd assume they could rebuild the suppressor using the serialized part.Do you have any NFA items? Stamps are attached to the serial number of the item.
You also can’t replace the entire tube. Not sure any manufacturers mark them anywhere other than the tube, but a lot of Form 1 builders did before they changed the rules.P 175 of the ATF supplied NFA handbook discusses who can repair a silencer. Basically anyone who's a gunsmith and has an FFL can do it as long as the serial number isn't being touched.
Yeah, they don’t want to get into the “Gemtax” situation.I'm guessing that as long as the tube isn't damaged then they're going to recore it and that won't need a stamp. Some of the Sierra 5 failures I've seen lead to a damaged tube and that's not as fixable.
