Looking for opinions from people who shoot their Grocks in matches. Starting this for a friend, as I would never own a Grock. Sure, I've been grock-curious, but for the most part I fly straight.

So, this dude is pretty cheap/frugal (he bought a Grock- doesn't like fancy crap) and I think when he got the 34 he had hoped it would be easier to shoot well than his G19. I feel like it was kinda a let down to him, as he can compare it directly to nice competition guns like STI and CZ, which his friends have.

So, what would you G34 people recommend for a cheap guy that wants a better trigger?

Also, is there anything else you do to your 34 for matches and whatnot?

He picked up an Gen4 G34 MOS. Really nice gun. Thanks for your time and opinions.

If I wanted to do it real cheap, I would do a .25 polish job, some kind of 3.5lb connector, and a competition spring kit. You can do all of this for probably less than 30-40 bucks.

oh, and tell him to shoot the hell out of it, that usually smooths out the trigger too.

I have a Ghost Pro 3.3 connector with "Spalding" cut to TST, everything inside polished including the slide stop where it contacts the trigger shoe, stoned the cruciform and striker shoe contacts, slight mod on my trigger bar, "competition" plunger spring, 6lb trigger spring, 4.5lb striker spring. I don't like the "wall" I like a smooth linear pull, I believe I have it about as close as it can get. 13lb recoil spring makes heavy bullet fast powder loads seem a bit less sluggish and slide lock reliably when fired with less than stellar form, I can't tell that it reduces muzzle dip but some claim it does. Grip tape.

My other has a Zev connector and the same springs minus striker, might've polished not as completely if I did, it's ok, more of a "wall", definitely heavier.

What division? If I was shooting CO I'd probably be inclined to grind some finger bumps off and possibly undercut.

The striker spring controls about 90% of what you feel when you start messing with triggers on these things.

We've taken a G34 that's totally pimped with all the Apex trigger and spring parts in it and pulled the slide off it and put it on my totally stock G34 frame. Suddenly my trigger went from crap to amazing, and the only parts different at that point were the striker spring and the firing pin bock spring in the good slide. Reverse holds true as well, put the pimped Apex trigger frame under my stock slide and the trigger turns back to gross Glockness. We then took my slide apart real quick and put the reduced spring out of the pimp gun into my slide, and the trigger went back to amazing. Without that reduced striker spring you're not going to get what you want out of all those high dollar trigger parts.

However, I can't run that reduced spring though because it won't reliably touch off the primers in the high kwality steel case ammo I use. We thought about trying the skeltonized striker to go with the lighter spring to see if that helps, but it's not worth it to me. I just shoot the thing as shipped from the factory and am learning to work with it instead of spending money on random parts. I don't have my name on a jersey, so I'm not fooling anyone with my pistol prowess. :)

And see, that G42 was just a gateway glock...

Good info fellas, thank you very much.

I was thinking a doing basically exactly what @Derek8404 was suggesting, and it sounds y'all are saying basically the same thing.
I think we can get an appropriate load for him, likely using Winny primers.

And, @Jayne, this really is somebody else's Grock! But I have a plan to add a THIRD one to my collection.
But I only have carry glocks. I just polish a little and add a 3.5lb to these. I like them for carry a lot! Hoping to add a 43 this week that I have had my eye for a while.

I disagree with the striker spring making the biggest difference, I find it just drops the pull weight and everything else remains the same. 4.5lb lights CCIs no problem, and every other domestic primer. 4lb starts having occasional issues.

Biggest issue I have seen with decreased striker springs is not resetting the trigger out where the safety can engage. Sometimes it takes a couple hundred rounds to take a set and start failing that.

3.5lb connector, extra power trigger spring. That's it.

I won't mess around with any springs in the slide, especially the striker spring. I've seen too many reduced powered striker springs mess up people's matches when all the sudden their guns stop popping primers reliably.

Almost PM'd you directly this morning. I had thought I remembered you doing the bare minimum to yours.

Did you get a limited gun?

I used a spring kit and a 3.5lb connector and a good polish job to begin with. I then bought a trigger from Orange county customs that is just factory parts that have been modified ( trigger had set screw for take up removal etc). It breaks at a clean 3lbs and I love it!

Extra power trigger spring, Ghost Edge connector, light polishing on the internals, and a minimum of 20,000 rounds down the pipe. That's all.

I would start with the polish job, then mess with springs. I believe the G34 comes with the (-) connector, at least the Gen3, which is the best connector I've found. If it doesn't have that I would start there.

My current formula is:
-Polish job, use a Dremel and you can make everything mirror surface in less than an hour. It doesn't reduce pull on the Lyman, but improves feel a lot.
-Glock (-) connector. I also use only Gen 3 Glocks other than 43, if I had to run a Gen 4 I would swap the trigger bar with an OEM Gen 3.
-Wolff 4 pound striker spring and HD trigger spring.

This gives the 34 a closer to advertised pull on the gauge that is pretty smooth. It allows me to have similar feeling triggers for Production, CO and Limited.

I've tried a couple Gucci $150-200 triggers made by the experts. I've found doing it as above to be more reliable, which is why I shoot Glock. I'm also not worried about having my guns inspected at the chrono stage, I know they'll pass.
