So we had 3 (male) grosbeaks (and some females) at our feeder for a couple of weeks presumably storing up for their migration northwards. Seems like they moved on, though, as over the weekend and through yesterday, no appearances. Today, we spotted two more males. Wife thinks these are new birds trekking north.
"Don't think so," saith I. "I think they went north; decided they didn't like gun-grabbing VA/MD/NY or Canada; figured they had a good deal going down here in freedom-loving NC with plenty of viands; and returned to Granville County to raise a brood where a bird can be a bird."
