I liked the one I had. No issues but you can get it for a better price without the fake suppressor. The build quality is just Ok but for the price it is hard to complain. Mine ran 100% They are sold under all sorts of brand names GSG. ATI, Colt etc... but are all made by Umerex IIRC.

Thank you! Good to hear it is reliable from a reliable source. I like the threaded barrel, despite the thread pitch, and have a decent gift certificate from PSA I am probably too anxious to burn through.

Only issue is mags can be expensive.

Had one and destroyed it with a torch to prevent selling it to another person. The plastic sights kept drifting (dovetails were oversized), the thumb safety was not properly fit from the factory, the grip safety did nothing, and the slide stop wore its notch to a nonfunctional state in no time flat. The barrel anchor screw sheared off, leaving an unremovable broken plug in the frame.

Just a sample of one, but an absolute lemon. GSG branded, if it makes a difference.

If you are dead set on a .22 1911 and have one in .45, conversion kits from Marvel (FCW Guns), Nelson, and Advantage Arms are incredible options. Otherwise, a traditional .22 like a Ruger or Browning might prove a better option with a much more robust aftermarket.

I have both the Sig P-22 (GSG) and the Colt/Walther Gold Cup 22. They break down completely different and both are a little picky with ammo. Cannot remember what one likes what ammo. Really do not shoot them much. They have a threaded barrel but need an adaptor to put on can.

My memory is bad but GSG makes the Sig and I think Umerex makes the Colt/Walther. I misspoke earlier. I believe Umerex is owned by Walther. None of these are hard use guns. They are range plinker trainers IMHO. With anything at this price point some are going to run great others are going to be lemons. Your satisfaction will heavily depend on its intended use.

I have a couple. They are fine 22s. I also have a couple of their conversion uppers. And Marvel and TacSol conversion uppers and 22/45s. I like them all. The guide rod is a known weakness - plan on replacing that (unless newer ones are improved). Better ones are easily found.

I did shoot a 2gun rimfire match with the GSG for a couple of years many moons ago before I switched to a dot on a 22/45. Was fine. Won some stages, lost some stages.

@JRV the information you give is Always well informed and valuable. I will definitely look into this.
Thank You

I would not be dissuaded from either the GSG or Umarex guns for a plinker. I just had a lemon. Must have been a Friday afternoon or Monday morning gun. Never had an issue with CCI RN Mini-mags, and after a little recoil spring experimentation, it would run CCI SV decently enough.

Another point, and I don’t know what level of fiddling you like to do with your guns, but the aftermarket for these guns has dropped off over the last five years.

CW Accessories used to make action/trigger improvement kits (because they do not take standard 1911 parts), but they ceased production a couple years ago to focus on Steel Challenge guns. Tandemkross only makes a couple compensators.

ZR Tactical Solutions is the only company, off the top of my head, making ignition parts, extractor/ejector upgrades, etc.

Lol, ask @Donnie D this question. He had a SIG he really enjoyed.
Yeah, right. Actually I liked the gun quite a bit once I found two or three ammos it would shoot. I had a REAL problem with the way the company treated the problem.

Still have the gun, and would like to fix it if I could find a slide for it.
