I'd like to commend the members of this forum for not using gun baby talk in their posts. Gun baby talk is such words as: 'Remmy; Winnie; Shottie; Springer" and the like. I hang out at a west coast forum and GBT is rife on it. Maybe it's the sun, or the weed on the left coast but it sure is annoying!

I think it was Jack O'Connor who was annoyed when gun writers referred to bullets as "pills" in their writing.

I’ll admit, that kinda irritates me too.

As does “it eats X ammo like candy”.

And “it runs like a sewing machine” as if sewing machines are the epitome of reliability.

Or in response to an ad “I’ve got $500 cash money today” what other type of money is there? It’s like saying “I’ve got me some French fried potato sticks”.

Or describing a new firearm as “Minty fresh”. It isn’t a mint. It may be in mint condition, but guns aren’t minted in the first place.

Down here, we prefer "Like poop through a goose."

I tried to run a sewing machine once...was a freaking nightmare. I sewed my shirt into my project and my finger, broke a needle thing, and ended up having to get someone else to fix it. Not how I want a firearm to perform.

Am I allowed to use "can" instead of silencer or suppressor?

Is "wheel gun" acceptable?

:D
You may not. You will use proper English without street cred slang unless you have a certified man purse and 2018 copy of the Urban Dictionary in your possession. And we are on a gun forum which prohibits the Hollywood term silencer.

I sewed a button by hand a few weeks ago. It was very traumatic experience. I am still shaken.

Hollywood term?

I think Hiram might take issue with that...as would all of my Forms 1/4 that say Silencer. :p

How about- buttery smooth trigger?

Gah! Yes! I don’t want a “buttery smooth” trigger. I almost want it to “break like a glass rod”. But that even irritates me because people will claim that junk on an old school LCP or something that’s trigger breaks more like a half cooked hot dog.

I keep it real...no gun baby talk for me

One that really bugs me is when someone writes about having "one in the tube":rolleyes:

You don’t carry one in the pipe?

I forgot about that one it's another one I can't stand. :):);) I usually just keep rounds loose in my pocket just in case I need them. :D:D

agree. i don't appreciate code nor slang nor jargon. although i understand it might be necessary
to obfuscate the true meaning within earshot of unfriendly company. we're all friends here.

You haven’t seen me with a bag of jelly beans!

The commercial units are quite impressive.
