WOW!

No effing way I would have left without that can. I'd have been shouting CEASE FIRE myself and let them throw me out after I retrieved it.

One of the Reddit comments I liked was "You should have rented a range pistol, loaded it, then slid it downrange"

Even though the RO's wouldn't ceasefire, I'd have surely started shouting it at the top of my lungs til I could book it down the lane.

The employees basically forced the guy at the threat of being shot (by other customers) to leave his can, and they broke the law somehow because I'm sure that NFA item wasn't properly logged/in their possession.

Or just shoot their target carrier until it falls apart enough for a cease fire to be called.

Dumb dumb dumb. Should have just called it himself.

Oh, hell no....no way Im leaving without that can. Employees trying to force me to leave without it would have ended with a $4!7load of cops there.
I'm leaving with my can, whatever it takes.

He can call a cease fire at any time...I don't know of any range that would prohibit such.

Any RO that doesn't like that might also not like being reminded that shooting unauthorized targets is likely against their rules, as well.

And just like that he now owns his very own indoor range. I would have shot every target stand they had until they stop the range and let me have my can back. Well maybe not, then you have to pay for the target holders but still would not have let that happen.

Just read the link with the updates - what a crap situation, sounds like the range doesnt want to pay squat for this.

I agree that it wasnt their fault for the malfunction, but how much of an inconvenience would it have really been to call a ceasefire for LITERALLY 2 minutes max???

I feel bad for the guy, but like most of you leaving without it would not have been on the list of options.

Am I the only one who thinks it's pretty pointless to bring your can to an indoor range full of other people who (I assume) are not using suppressors?

Shooting for the first time (like the guy who launched his $800 tubular target) some folks might want to re-zero a red dot or whatever

Also, probably really excited to shoot it for the first time regardless of the range.

I've taken my 10.5" suppressed AR to PSA's indoor range. The RO sent me down to the last bay (they have three divided bays) where I was by myself so it did make a huge difference

I've done it a bunch, the suppressor affects how an auto loading gun functions, want to have it on when testing loads.

It's also a way to make friends and spread the good news.

I just did it last week... The point was to see the impact on sight picture and test function on my semi auto pistol with SD loads.

...that feller is a candy ass, incapable o' pitchin' a fit to get 'em to do wha's right.

Oh yeah, my thought too. It would go like this.

Can you call a cease fire?
No.
You call it or I will.
No, leave it.
Let me call the ATF and let them know YOU are in illegal possession of a suppressor.

While I don't believe I'd have left without my can, I think you're all stretching it a bit to think the range would be charged with illegal possession of a suppressor in this situation.

It don't matter what the letter of the law is, it's the threat of BATFU involvement that works in yer favor, if'n it's yet can out on the range.

Looks like the range is paying for a replacement.

Maybe, but it would probably make their lives very interesting for a bit.

Not really...

One of the guys I really trust on ARF, that's been in the NFA game for decades, posted these two answers to similar questions in the thread I linked earlier:

These things happen. He got the can back at the earliest convenience of the property owner, which we all agree was way too long.

........and it shoots really well with no shift on where it should hit. Nice. Very nice.

I think there's a difference between "the range's earliest convenience" and an unsecured Class III device. Anybody could have jetted down there and grabbed it during an actual cease fire, before it was damaged.

I just want to know what kind of range he was at where you have to ask to call a cease fire....
