Well.... not really. It is what I thought about an hour ago when I stepped out my back door and saw this.

Turned out there was no damage at all to anything but my old 97 Nissan p/u, and it only had a small dent in the hood. Vehicles all moved now.

I lent my chainsaw out to a guy in Durham, and so ran up to Horror Freight and bot a 45 dollar electric cheapie to cut this thing up.
My neighbor said I should go play the lottery today, since it is clearly my lucky day.

I moved two of mine this morning.Big old tree with huge limbs that hang over the driveway.I like the shade in the summertime but don't chance any wind.

How’s the HF chainsaw?
so far chain has jumped twice in about 45 min. Not expecting much from it. I ain't scared of anything and I am scared of getting under this to trim it out. Just dealing with the stuff on the periphery right now, which mostly means smaller limbs, but it did shear about an 8 inch diameter limb from a hickory next to it. So far it has done ok.

If it’s broke loose from the stump, after you get it limbed, throw a rope over it and yank it over on its sides with your truck

Thanks. I view tree work like guns. You definitely have to respect them. When I had a firewood biz in HS, a guy about my age who had a biz on the other side of town was cutting up wood late one afternoon and the saw kicked. nicked his femoral artery and he bled out b4 he could make it 25 yards or so to his truck. My dad always told me that unless a tree/branch was ON THE GROUND, always look at it and say "how could this fall so that it will kill me" and assume it will do so.... , THEN plan your cut. Like I said, I ain't scared of anything, but tree work is on the verge of too dangerous for me, especially at age 67. Thanks for the kind advice.

The tree fell and wedged in a fork of a hickory. It peeled down off at the stump and is splintered. I may figure out how I might cut this back, or might borrow my neighbor's little tractor and put a chain on it and try to pull it off.

I fear the tree will die. It is a shame, b/c it is a grand, majestic beautiful cedar. I just don't think it will take the shock here, though.

Somewhere I have a picture of an oak tree limb, nearly 2 feet in diameter, which fell across where I normally park my car at home.

I was running a little late that day...if I had been on time, my car would have been utterly crushed by it.

Good to see you lucked out, too!
