Oh, I thought this was local Chicago news footage.
I was watching footage of someone driving through a city in South Africa. All looted stores, a literal wall of trash in the middle of the street and people scurrying about like they expected to get shot. That’s exactly what happened in Haiti. The locals killed all their French oppressors and seized the wealth.
They quickly lost it all, all infrastructure fell apart and warlords took over. But that’s also the white mans fault even with us giving them unlimited money.

Reminded me of Blue cities here honestlyTale as old as time
Rage On Behalf Of The MachineMaybe their opinion has changed now that the machine they were raging for is in charge? 🤷♂️
To be honest , we left within 1 week of transition, and then started in on training for fallujah depl 5 months later. After 2 weeks of leave, Haiti was in the rear view mirror. How well did the Brazilians do in your opinion?
That feels on point for Brazil. To be honest , we left within 1 week of transition, and then started in on training for fallujah depl 5 months later. After 2 weeks of leave, Haiti was in the rear view mirror.
My few observations, though: I will never forget the first meeting with the Brazilians though. They had different priorities. We briefed port/airport security, force protection and threats, with a focus on gangs and a few para-militaries. They briefed their surgeon was already testing the hookers, and the disease free ones would be allowed to “work” in an approved brothel 🙄. They were very interested in the coord Btwn the Fr forces and the Dom Rep for leave at one of their resorts. Handover at the unit level was much the same with US/ Canadian forces underwhelmed with the level of prep by the Brazilians. We walked away with a lot of doubts.
ETA: to be fair, we found out at the After Action at SouthCom that the 2 x Foreign Legion Companies in Gonaive had their own brothel too. A very well kept secret by the French.
They will not do it, but they were turned loose for a month, things would be good for 20 years. And the Marines may be going back:

Yeah, but it must make the DR nervous.Haiti has always been a basket case. Kinda like Somalia, Yemen, Lebanon, etc. etc. etc.

I hear "Giz"lainne Maxwell has a history of turning islands into resorts. Maybe we should turn her loose down there. I am sure she would be well received.Maybe Bill and Hillary should go back down there and ‘help’ the children. Surely they can get that place all fixed up. 🤔
Just wish I could find the thing all these failed states have in common......So it's much like southern Africa.
If a cruise line is involved, you're safe. As mentioned on the first page, where you stop will have a hell of a wall and armed guards. Cruise lines run every island they stop at.What a coincidence this popped up on here, I’ve been eyeing this very close due to the fact that im headed to Labadee,Haiti via Royal Caribbean next week. First stop Labadee, second stop DR. Supposedly this is a private area and is safe for tourists. Any one with personal experiences of this area?Thoughts on situation?
Yeah, but it must make the DR nervous.
well, Lebanon was not an "always".

Pretty much what I figured but as always head will be on a swivel. Never hurts to get second opinions. If a cruise line is involved, you're safe. As mentioned on the first page, where you stop will have a hell of a wall and armed guards. Cruise lines run every island they stop at.
I saw the pics as well, very eclectic mix of kit. And every dude seems to have exactly one magazine on him. Guess they have rules against reloading?
was watching a story on this. Sec. of State Hillary made Haiti her project. After the earthquake down there she was able to raise a Billion dollars for them. Practically none of which actually went there.Maybe Bill and Hillary should go back down there and ‘help’ the children. Surely they can get that place all fixed up. 🤔
I've been seeing an awful lot of Century AK's down there. Guess they're the cheapest AK since IO folded.
my wife always dreamed of getting married at a little spot in california, long before she moved to MI.I would never do that for a wedding. I wouldn’t want family or friends to have to send that kind of money. I almost feel it’s kind of selfish to ask someone to do that. Elope in the DR then come back here and have a reception after the honeymoon.
But our honeymoon was in Punta Cana, DR. I believe it was $3000 back 15 years ago for airfare and the all inclusive resort for both of us. It was really fun. The afternoon thunderstorms were the best.
Wish I had one.
