I was recommended this channel for Hammock Camping, and my first outing I learned a few things I did wrong, so hopefully my next outing will go better.

Shug is the man!! Ole NC boy originally too! Love his videos, watching him actually got me into the hammock camping thing. Kayaking and hammocking (sp) are two of my most recent joys in life.

Noob question, how do you roll over in one of those things? I toss and turn a lot and can't imagine I would be comfortable on my back all night.

It can be done, you just gotta be a bit more careful. A structural ridgeline seems to help too. It takes some of the sag out of the system.

Oh yeah you can toss and turn if you want. I use a structural ridgeline and a 10.5 foot double wide hammock. Super comfy and kinda envelops me so i can roll over and slide up and down to get settled. You don't sleep like a banana you sleep kinda crossways in it so you are parallel v/s curved. Pick up a cheapie on fleabay and mess with it a little, thats the best way I found to see if you like it.

It can be done. You’ve met me, ima big guy. I can roll all the way over in mine

I just cannot get the hang of my hammock. Pun absolutely intended. It's either bowstring taut or I hit the deck when I get in it.

Now I'm a big walrus bugger so I got a 400# hammock with whoopie slings, ridgeline etc, but I've tried three times to hang the bugger and it just doesn't come together.

I am a tosser too, but find I don't as much in a hammock. And this is not like the spreader beach hammocks that ar made just to dump you out when you move!
