So recently traded for a S&W 642 from @jfanatic, who brought me back into the wonderful world of revolvers.

So since I like to upgrade my guns, and I always wanted to do it on my previous 442/642 but never did, I ordered an Apex J frame kit. Installation was going well until I was going to line up the hammer, and somehow got the hand pulled up ever so slightly and the little spring that retains it came loose.
I do all my own repairs, and I figure I can figure this out. To say that this little freaking spring hasn’t been the vain of my existence for the last X3 days would be an understatement. I’ve read countless articles, even found a detailed video on YouTube and I still can’t get that SOB installed back.

@jfanatic keeps telling me to just get a good nights sleep and then try, but that thing haunts my dreams. Anyone else have this experience?

I believe that I also suggested a great breakfast and cup of coffee or two ;)

My experience tells me it may go better BEFORE the coffee. 😂

A lot of us have done the same thing. Chances are that when you finally get everything back in place, you won't know how you did it. You'll do it just like you did the last 248 times but this time it works.

I hate having to agree with @Geezer. But that was exactly my experience.
