Handgun pic thread

I don't post many photos of semi-autos. Normally a revolver guy, but had to share this 1942 Mauser Luger. Before I do, want to thank cubrock for his time today. He looked at some photos and gave us much appreciated info about this pistol. Thanks man.

My grandmother passed away (at 93 years) last Friday and mom went to Illinois on related business and to see her brothers. They sent some photos of this Luger that my grandfather brought back from Germany after WWII. It is in great shape, with the holster, two magazines, and capture and customs documents. It remained in his possession until he died in 1990 and thereafter with grandmother and uncle. It will probably be in my safe soon where it will stay until something happens to me. Never selling it. Just wanted to share. My grandfather was in the First Division, 18th Regiment, Headquarters Company, 393rd Infantry.

Cubrock has an encyclopedic knowledge and has been much help to me as well.

Good grief Ryan...real treasure with some awesome provenance!
I know. Had forgotten about this but remember hearing about it from my mom or grandmother when I was a kid but never saw it. My grandfather did not talk much about the war and he never had a reason to show it to me when he was alive. Probably would not have appreciated it as much as a kid. I am thankful that my uncle and grandmother kept it.

A superb WWII Luger. I appreciated the chance to see the pics and help you out. What a family heirloom!

A few from the collection

Do pics of handguns in pieces count?
Detail strip, clean, and parts installation on a Sig P226 (SRT), M11 (E2 grip), and P224 (SRT).
Now they all feel and operate the same.

Some nice pics of nice guns here! I'll add a few:

Texas Longhorn Arms South Texas Army with a Winchester Model 53 in .32-20, custom knife, and custom tooled holster and rifle scabbard.

My favorite custom single action revolver, a replica of the famous "SS1" custom .44 Special Blackhawk intended for Skeeter Skelton, but he died before it was completed. With Dall Sheep horn stocks. Mine was made by Clement Custom Guns in Virginia. The original was made primarily by Bob Baer of Texas, though Bill Grover of Texas Longhorn Arms liked to take credit for it. Don't know what happened to the original after John Wootters died two years ago. Mine is a real shooter, as was the original.

A rare 5.5" Second Generation Colt New Frontier in .44 Special, engraved by master engraver Horacio Acevedo. Carved ivory one-piece stocks with sterling silver butt caps. Originally owned and commissioned by Bill Grover, owner of Texas Longhorn Arms.

And, to prove I own at least one semi-auto, an early Series I Kimber Custom Stainless, ivory stocked. It is my EDC. I shot a grouse in the neck at 15 yards with it at camp in 2012. We cooked the grouse in the dutch oven with rice and onions that night for supper. Yum. My buddies said it was a lucky shot, and they were probably right. But, I'll take luck on such a shot any day.

6906 on the left.

And one of my favorites of all time, the 3913 on the right.

Now if I could just find a 3906 that I could afford I would feel much better about my 3rd gen situation. And I love most of the 10mms and 45s as well. Just haven't found the right ones yet.

And, I'd love to add a 39-2 at some point since that is what my father carried as a police officer in the late 70s-early 80s.
