The pastor of my church took up shooting about a year ago. He has a 38 revolver and a 30/30 of his own that he takes to the range regularly. He came to me at church a couple weeks ago with a question about another related topic and casually mentioned he always wanted to shoot an M1 garand. Well i happen to have one so took him out this weekend. The attached picture shows how he felt after the first clip. Gotta love sharing the fun of shooting with anybody new to the sport. It always makes my day when i see that big grin on a newbies face the first time they pull the trigger on a rifle or pistol. Never gets old.

Well done. We had a "men's event" for my SS Class about 2 years ago. THSF brought 6 or so MGs out for us. Good times.

On the flip side, I have a "intro to shooting" event in the works for the same group. Mainly some of the wives, but I know some of the husbands have never shot. We'll have a little safety chat, then let them try pistols, rifles and shotguns.

Probably more excited about the grins I'll see at the second event than I was watching the guys grin after a FA mag dump.

My small collection doesnt allow for FA auto mag dumps, but i love to spread the wealth. I have been talking my pastor about doing an intro to shooting kind of event for our members. Good times.

I taught him how to load the old girl and he popped off the first 8. Once he was sure of himself i opened up the can and dropped a pile of clips on the table and sat back. He shot my AR also but the garand stole the show as always.
 
I need to pick up another M1. Sold mine a while back and always meant to get another, but the black rifles just kept callin my name!
