No, not talking about Indian [company] but Indian as in the country of India

This popped up on ADV and, well, Im jealous.
Long-time HD fan, grew up on them, raced them etc
At only 40, Im getting to that point where a small cruiser to hop around town is much more interesting to me than a huge engine with lots of HP.
So this X440 was just released for the Indian market and I think it looks good. Much like the other Street models that came out a few years back. They're cheap, not anything special, but I dig it

The X440 comes with a six-speed gearbox, chain drive, and claimed fuel economy of 35 km/liter, which works out to 82 miles per US gallon.
According to Harley-Davidson’s website, the fuel-injected air/oil-cooled single-cylinder engine puts out 28 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm and 27 hp at the crank at 6,000 rpm. To put that in perspective: Kawasaki’s KZ440 twin put out the same torque but a lot more horsepower (claimed 40 hp) from an engine developed 40 years ago.
the X440 comes with all-round LED lighting, and even a TFT screen with speedo, fuel range, gear indicator, high beam, ABS and sidestand alerts, neutral light, check engine light, and integration to smartphone for navigation, music control, call answering and other mobile features, as long as you have the Connect 2.0 package included.

I dig it. I think that would make a good, around town scoot for sure. Some of the other countries get some very cool bikes that we don't get here.

Cars - there's so many small cars around the world that we dont get here
They push big cars and trucks here, the rest of the world uses a lot of small vehicles. Yes, they have some big stuff, but it's not pushed the same

Speaking of cars I think those mini trucks are awesome. Seems more useful than a street legal side by side and they are pretty cheap. Sides fold down on the bed for a big flat area and heck the beds are longer than most crew cab pickups now.

Have looked into them - issue, here, is mostly the power/mph
Theyre real low powered and only do about 50mph
Usable, but for many not close to a home improvement store it wouldnt work due to it being dangerous on a highwy

That's true, I'm in a rural area so it'd be perfect for the wife to grab crap on random errands during the day and they get great gas mileage. I am probably apart of the minority though.

There's one not too far from me that hasnt moved in a while. I cant buy one right now, but always tempted to ask them about it

Thank the .gov for that.

Many vehicles from overseas would sell like hot cakes here, especially small trucks. EPA emissions, crash testing, and other .gov regulations keep that from happening. The chicken tax for example.

But who is forcing that hand? Think the big companies are pushing for the larger cars and lobbying for it?

Hard to say. I suspect when you get into the weeds of it, the lobbyists of numerous industries have their fingers in it. Big petro, big tech, big auto, the environmental wackos, etc. Ultimately though, the .gov is to blame.

That said, do I believe there’s some automotive version of the Phoebus Cartel?🤔 Of course I do. 😉

I couldnt find a price, as Id be curious what it'd be in USD

Two wheels are always a blast but I try to stay away from town when I ride. Way too much congestion, intersections and lights. Give me a nice back country, winding road. Still though that bike looks way cool. Go for it !

Rough numbers, $3k

I got the same thing when playing with currency conversions, seems awful cheap doesn’t it?

Wonder if this is a “Harley in name only” licensed Chinese mass produced product.

That said, I’m looking forward to Bollywood “Sons of Anarchy.”

Probably has the same issues the street 500 and 750 have...cheap parts that are cheaply painted/coated....iffy brakes. Odd ergonomics....they feel like they are made for very small people with short legs and torso but long arms.

I assume Indian licensed and manufactured, but don’t know. Is that better or worse than Chinese, again don’t know.

Everyone I've known that bought a 500cc bike sells it after a few incidents where they wanted more power. This includes women.

Ive seen that before...but typically with people who only have one bike.
In my garage right now with 3 bikes - one is 100cc, the other two are 1125
The 49 year old 100cc is what I enjoy the most these days. I can go faster on the others, but for bouncing around town/getting coffee etc, yeah, I dig the little thing with character
