have you ever been banned from a forum?

Not forums, but I’ve been banned by a particular Facebook group for calling out the Durham city council over their pants-pissing when Jordan Peterson came to DPAC.

Not exactly, but ... I did get blocked from my high school class group on Farcebook right after I joined it - never even posted.

I mean, I knew I wasn't one of the "in-crowd", but I didn't know I was quite that far out! :D
ha ha ha... I got a hysterical fit of the giggles over that one. well done

If you are banned from a forum, and try to create a new account, but use the same email, it will not let you create an new account with the same email.

If you use gmail for your email, just add a period (.) or two, and the forum will see it as a different email... but gmail ignores it so you will receive the verification email from the forum.

[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]

all appear to be different to the forum, all will work with your [email protected] account.

Not that I have ever done this....... o_O..

Some ban your IP rather than your email address....

Well...depending on how the day goes, I might just add another one to the list.

Just got a warning for “Disrespect to Moderators / Staff”.

I dared to speak up recently against a Mod (I’d never even dealt with before) regarding an NFA Topic, and he copy/pasted this in the thread, not as a PM...which I guess is posted on the site somewhere:

The Value of Opinions.
The Good: One of our strengths is that we acknowledge that not all opinions are created equal. To this end, we have attempted to make the Subject Matter Experts and Industry Professionals in our midst more visible, so you know when you are engaging with a heavy hitter. We also have many, many regular members who are capable of dispensing very sound advice.
The Bad: If you honestly have no first-hand experience with the topic at hand, either learn to say nothing at all, or be very up-front about your limitations. Stay in your lane, and think twice about posting something that you believe to be true only because you read about it on the internet, or saw it in a magazine. You will earn far more respect by asking an intelligent question than by dispensing a foolish answer.
The Ugly: Knowledgeable members are generally quick to throw the BS flag when it is warranted, and post-counts may not be especially useful here, as some of the most competent members on here have relatively low post counts. You may well discover that there is more wisdom in the opinion of a 2006 member with 400 posts than in that of a 2010 member with 1,400. Pay attention, and treat it as a learning opportunity should you find your views being actively challenged. (There is an associated lesson here with respect to our stance on post-whoring, but that should probably go without saying.)

And today I couldn’t help but reply in a similar thread, when three others shared the same opinion I did, that they might not want to upset the “heavy hitters” by disagreeing with them. :D

Snarky? Absolutely.
But was I “in my lane”? Pretty sure I was...;)

Never been banned, but I've come very close to it over on The Firing Line forum many years ago. I got 2 strikes on the forum for stating information about someone's rights during interaction with the police or at a traffic stop... basically stating that you don't have to consent to searches, allow cops into your car/home to show that you're a "good guy" etc.

Got 2 strikes and was warned by a mod that they wouldn't tolerate any more of my "anti police" attitude. I removed myself from the forum after that.

Only once... I posted a pic of my 41tula bubba'ed Mosin on the Mosin forum Welcome Thread. Banned on my 1st post...

Did it as a joke but I guess they didn't see the humor ..

WTH.

BigWaylon I've really learned a lot from your posts and I appreciate it, fwiw.

But I'm not a heavy hitter, unfortunately.
Both threads were questions about rolling your own prints. Which I’ve done several times. Heck, @Butter even stopped by one day and I helped him roll his for his 06FFL (which was approved).

Mod there was insistent people needed to pay a professional to do it. Not because of the statutes, but because of the likelihood of rejection. He claimed (in the PM warning) that I was an example of one, and he and others on the site knew better.

I didn’t even reply to him. But I guarantee you I see more discussion in a day as the NFA Mod on AR15 than he sees in a month or more on the forum in question. So even if my personal experience is limited at times, I speak from a place of group knowledge as well. But, whatever.

FWIW: If I had that question, you'd be the first person I ask!!

Confusing, this.

You haven’t heard of any Mod’s getting their ass whipped have ya. So no for me, been put in time out once for a couple days on a National forum.

update:
banned from another one.
which one really does not matter.
same old...no reason why no appeal.

Breitbart/disqus banned me about 6 months ago, lefty mod went back and deleted the previous month or so worth of posts. I guess they didn't like my tone with the commie troll brigade.

No loss to me, I deleted the bookmark and haven't been back to the place since.

Not a forum, but I got banned from KFC in Cheraw SC. I ordered some wing dinners and so happened the person in line behind me ordered some wing dinners as well. They got their wings and I was told I would have to wait 15 minutes to get mine because they were out! I showed my ass good especially when I realized the person behind me was a friend of the cashier. The manager came out to see what was going on and when I complained again, I was accused of making a racial issue out of the situation. Well, it so happened it was and since they brought it up, I thought it was my duty to expand on the subject. The manager told me I was banned for ever from going back to the KFC! I showed them who was smarter ( really wasn't a big challenge) by going back the next day and ordering through the drive through. I am a born trouble maker and yes I've been banned a couple of times from other gun forums for "violating policies" that I didn't know existed.

I got banned from Dunham’s Sporting Goods in Burlington. No big loss cause they’re overpriced and suck

Yep, just checked, wasn't sure but I was banned from the Nextdoor site for our neighborhood. Douches all of em.

You did yourself a favor being banned. Some of the posts on Nextdoor are so stupid it's not even funny. I really have a hard time not responding to them.

How did you get banned, were you there?
If they suck so bad then why were you there to begin with?
Makes no sense.

First time I’d been in there. Gun counter guy was rude.
Does that make sense enough for you?

So he was rude, what did you do to get banned?

I’ve told this story several times. Not gonna type it out again for you to pick apart and condescend.
