More Information:

The Hawks Ridge Cold Bore Challenge is a marksmanship competition that will be won by the shooter who is the best shot of the day. Our philosophy is that you cannot miss enough, and you cannot miss fast enough, to keep up with the guys and girls making the hits. We also strongly believe first hits matter and our scoring methodology reflects this core idea and it aligns with the challenges a shooter faces with long range, cold bore shots.

Any surprise pistol/rifle add ons?

Not sure. If we did, we’d provide it again.

Any chance we can use our own handgun? I know many did not expect the handgun stage at the July match. If we can get a heads up before hand we won't be fishing in the glove box for our old lady's 380! If someone doesn't have a suitable handgun I, and I'm sure others, would be willing to share.
Same goes for carbine or shotgun stages if the MD wants to mix it up. I would be more than willing to bring an AR or shotgun. Again I don't mind sharing.

Had some people ask why the entrance fee went up to $50. Some improvements for this shoot:
1. Match will be seven stages. (More than the previous shoots)
2. There will be awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Top Female, and Top Junior (19 and under).
3. There will be a prize table. I'm not sure how big it will be, but we're working on it.
4. There will be a match T-Shirt. (You need to register before 9/23)

@Blake Michetti will gladly take that spot

It takes a "special" person to fill these shoes, he's exactly the man for the job. Cocky, yet totally out of his element, and unconcerned as the day is long. I wish him well, hope you all have a great time and at least a 20 mph crosswind.

my 6mm isnt touched by the wind.

Then my wish is in your favor, so why you getting all defensive about your round, bro? ;)

Luckily, I'll be coming back from Phoenix with a brand new Mk12 Mod1 in 6.5 Grendel, and the cold bore challenge will hold drastically different results going forward.

*I hope, fingers crossed*

I changed my 6.5 cm to a 6, so excited to see how it does and I am also building a 6.5G that I hope to be able to try out at the match after this one

I’ve shot Grendel in these types of matches for several years. I just moved to 6mm Grendel wildcat (Fat Rat), because of the pedestrian ballistics of the Grendel. But it is a pretty dang accurate round...

What’s the velocity on the fat rat

In mag length rounds on a 25” barrel, I’m shooting 95’s at 2840 or 105’s at 2720. I’ve got the varmint chamber though, specifically for mag length loads.
In my old Grendel, I was pushing the limits to shoot 123’s at 2600, which is ballistically the same as FGMM 175grn .308 - a ~.500bc bullet at 2600.

I am guessing there will be a stage where a sling is the only support allowed. No bipod or bag, no barricade, ect...
I hope the targets are big!

Slings aren’t for carrying rifles....;)

The landowner told me what the extra shirts cost, but I can’t remember exactly - it’s either $12 or $15. I’ll ask him again.

I saw the shirt art a couple of days ago. It’s awesome!

Nukeman u have a advantage and u ain’t fooling me I have seen u bang steel at 1000 yards with iron sights. So are we talking competition sling or qd sling? Can we shoot a different rifle on that stage?

I ordered a cheapo 550 cord sling on Amazon that should do OK. You can shoot my rifle on that stage lol

Any sling can be used to stabilize your rifle. I like the old GI cotton web sling. You don’t have to have a fancy sling or use a complicated setup with loops. The old hasty sling technique works pretty good:

I’ll ask Doug about using another rifle, (that’s usually just reserved for equipment failures) but I’d say learn to dance with who brung ya
