Damn! that place SUX!

I'm not sure what is more ridiculous the gun or knife laws....

I've decided that the best defensive thing I can bring is a stainless steel water bottle...it would suck to get clocked with one (full or empty)

iu

I actually have one that is lime green with a smiley face on it that I got for 4$..

I'm going to have to figure out how to put a lanyard on it.

Then I'm going to start marketing them as TSA legal "tactical" water bottles....

I believe the capacity of that water bottle exceeds their legal limit!

Well at least the food is good. And a game at the Garden is always an experience.
That's funny.
I've been to NYC twice. Never again. Three only place we could afford to eat anything from was crap from convenience stores. Not once restaurant that was even remotely affordable then. Hint, if the menu doesn't have prices you can't afford it. Even the hotel restaurant was insane. Couldn't wait to get home. That was back in the early 90's.

Not trying to get you in trouble, but a carbon fiber “straw” that’s 3/8” in diameter and cut at an angle at one end could be concealed in said water bottle or about one’s person. Something like this or a tactical pen doesn’t extend you reach, but it’s better than nothing.

Go get a good meal. Where you staying?

Its not so bad. Just have to leave your weapons at home.

I go about once a month and usually stay in midtown. Lots of international food options if you are adventurous. And usually there is a sushi bar or falafel stand on most every block.

Yall make it seem like he's going into the pit of despair or something

Dude, enjoy yourself, go out and see some stuff.
Not been to NYC since the late 90s, but I'll go back at some point.

As far as weapons, get creative.
Sure, no knives or pistol sucks...a lot.
But, as other's have said, a metal pen (not just a 'tactical pen') would probably be a good thing.
Or just situational awareness and common sense.

Knock on wood, done a lot of traveling the past decade with not a single issue.

i’m at the javits convention center?

i’ll have fun.

life’s too short not to!!!

Over near Hells Kitchen.

If you like Ramen head over to Toto Ramen. If you like Sushi Sushi of Gari 46 is pretty close. Always eat a Falafel out of one of the Halal Carts!!!! I know I am in the minority here but I love NYC. I would not want to live there but I enjoy visiting up there. Great food, museums, theater etc... make is a blast for 3-4 days.

Also don't forget to get a NY slice....

Enjoy yourself. Eat a good pizza, bagel, steak and cheese sandwich, etc...
Remember to take a ride on the subway system.
The big cities in the NE are great, to visit.

upsides: so many people to watch=fun

downsides: can’t really see more than 100 yards in any direction is really claustrophobic

Take pics for us, please. It's been awhile since I was there.

Ive told this before, I'll tell it again.
Went to NYC for the first time when I was a freshman in high school.
We get off the bus and the teacher said something to the effect of, "You have an hour, dont go more than a block/two blocks away to get food"

Now, I was young, 13 at the time, and didnt really know what the heck I was thinking, but I got off the bus and me and my friend were like, "Yeah, some NY pizza!" and proceeded to go to Sbarros...
Yes, The Office made a joke of it, I really did do it. I think it was because I'd heard of it and, at that time, I didnt want to go outside of my comfort-zone as far as food goes.

But, yeah, I actually did that at age 13...

anti trump protesters in time square right now outside of my hotel...

I was there right in the middle of Occupy Wall St protests. I laughed as I walked through it on my way to a Michelin 3 Star meal and a Broadway play.

Reminds me of the line from The Rolling Stones song Before They Make me Run.

“Worked the bars and sideshows along the twilight zone
Only a crowd can make you feel so alone
And it really hit home“

That is what always amazes me about NYC. You will never be surrounded by more people at every hour of the day but at the same time you are completely anonymous and alone. No one gives a shit what you are doing.

First trip thru NYC was at 75 mph in the fast lane of I-95, stuck between transfer trucks, straight thru. All I want Ted to see of that place.
Second trip safely into LaGuardia, drive up Long Island, stay a week, drive back, fly out. Flight out delayed for 8 hours, missed connection in Atlanta, had daughter pick us up there. Back to Asheville the next day to pick up luggage. Wife using wheelchair, me with arm in a sling. Not enjoyable.
