One year after 17 people were killed in a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., several North Carolina lawmakers called Thursday for a variety of gun restrictions in this state.

The omnibus gun bill they filed, dubbed the Gun Violence Protection Act, includes provisions that would require background checks on all gun purchases, prohibit high-capacity magazines, ban bump stocks and raise the age to purchase an assault-style weapon from 18 to 21.

Reckon not.

Thank you for letting us know about this. I wrote a letter to my representative speaking out against this and encourage others to do the same.

Dear Representative _____:

As your constituent in ______ County, specifically of the town of ______, NC, I am writing to request you vote against the following bill: https://webservices.ncleg.net/ViewBillDocument/2019/289/0/DRH10046-ML-28

I do not agree with any gun control measures as they are an affront to my rights as an American citizen, recognized specifically by the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. As the owner of firearms and accessories specified in this bill, I do not appreciate the accusation that I will use these items to do harm that many gun control bills tend to suggest. I and other law-abiding Americans hold that our right to firearm purchasing, possession and usage should not and cannot be limited to those firearms or accessories deemed publicly tasteful, and that gun control legislation that targets firearms based on common features (semiautomatic operation, pistol grips, muzzle devices, etc) is both unfair and destined to be ineffective at curbing the problems the legislation was intended to address. I believe that any and all measures that would attempt to restrict the right of the American citizen to have any firearm, regardless of make, model or accessory, should be rejected on principle, and I request that you take my feelings as your constituent to heart when voting on this bill and others like it.

Likewise, I further wish to state that not only do I believe any gun control measures should be thwarted, but that the right to bear arms has been sufficiently reduced from the original intent of our Founding Fathers, as to promote a state of need to repeal existing anti-firearm-rights legislation. Any and all previous or standing assault weapons bans should be lifted. NFA restrictions on short barreled rifles/shotguns, suppressors, and automatic/select-fire firearms should be repealed, along with the act itself. On the state level, I request work toward expanding the rights of North Carolinians on the state level through expanded rights for concealed carrying of firearms, and any other measures pro-gun-rights organizations such as Gun Owners of America might suggest. I do not want expanded background checks. I definitely do not want there to be a database of gun owners that can be checked against. I fear that such databases will be used to deny individuals of basic human rights, due process and needed medical treatments. I do not want a waiting period on firearm purchases, nor the restriction of private/person-to-person firearm transfers, either. These and all other anti-gun motions like them are an affront to my right as an American citizen, and I request that my sentiments be considered as you move into the coming Congressional sessions.

Thank you for your time and consideration as my representative in dealing with this bill and other gun control matters. This is an issue of great importance to me. I believe that the right to bear arms shall not and should not be infringed, and wish to live in a state where that right is respected, uplifted, and appreciated.

Sincerely,
______________

Requires all gun owners have $100,000 liability insurance policy.

Better off requiring a criminal to get a no cost permit 24 hours in advance of a crime.

This will never work because you would be incriminating yourself when applying.;)

The primary sponsor is State Rep Christy Clark of Mecklenburg County, who used to run NC Moms Demand Action.

I lived in San Diego, CA for 12 years. I got tired of calling my local reps to oppose gun control bills and never getting a reply (or getting a canned response thanking me for supporting their gun control legislation when i was not a supporter. It was clear they were sending out canned responses without even listening to my pro gun message).

Over the last 5 years there has been a mass exodus of conservatives from CA (me being one of them). I packed up my family and my guns, sold a house in SD, bought a house in NC, and moved everything I own to NC. I did this all for one reason (gun rights). With this move, I also took my and my wife's income and tax money away from California. Hundreds of thousands of good people, with good jobs, are leaving California and taking their money and taxes to other states.

I moved here, not expecting gun control to follow me so quickly.

It won't be long before California is bankrupt; the only citizens left to tax will be socialists and illegal immigrants, neither able to pay enough state taxes to keep that wretched state afloat on its sea of debt.

I know I'm speaking to the choir, but now is the time for Carolinians to stand up to this push for useless "gun control" measures. If we sit back and do nothing, these proposals will continue year after year, and eventually they will pass things that do nothing except to infringe on or rights.

None of us can sit silent. We need to make our voices heard and push back NOW.

Starts with the bill that was introduced along with “reasonable gun laws” but we all know this is their end game:

I know I should watch this, and I'm glad you posted it, but I can't bring myself to click the play button. I can only assume that it's gonna make me furious... The good news is, you reminded me to go take my blood pressure pill for today. Haha.

I love it when cops say it's just their job to uphold/enforce the law. Then when you ask for clarification of the law you get told that they're not a lawer

Oh ya and f*ck those guys in the video! So if confinscation ever comes about do you think those 4 are gonna tell their bosses that they're not going to do it? I honestly feel that the MAJORITY of LE will go through with confinscation. Mainly because it gets heard so much from LE that it's "just their job" "I don't make the laws" ect ect.

Again:

High Emotion

Over the last few years I've been able to have ( somewhat ) meaning conversations with members of the "Anti-Gun" crowd. seems most of them >Just Follow< what is suggested in the news / publicly, etc. because it sounds like a "Good Idea?" Of these types I've been able to slide in a question about "The Bill of Rights" and most were oblivious to the BOR.

Some in this group have stated or admitted that they , while being able to pass BG CK, do NOT Trust themselves with Firearms, for various reasons.
Others are very quick to point out that they believe the 2A is "OUT DATED(?)" and our US Government would never turn on the citizens, or ever need to defend our land from foreign invaders because we have the military.

All in All, ( as most realize ) it's more than the 2A at stake because as the Left sees fit they are also trashing all parts of the 1A ( unless the purpose fits their agenda ) with the rest of the constitution in tow for destruction as they see the need to Promote their ,, Cause?

Here's Uncle Joe:

Congressional Staffers Refuse To Put Gun-Free Zone Signs On Their Property

First, as was stated, don't answer the effing door!! Second, be prepared for gunfire to break out. I think today is a good day to go shooting.
Everyone wants to go to heaven but no body wants to go now.....

F' that. This is why you do not register a g.d. thing.

Oh...and calling it "your job" don't make it right. Only criminals I see in the video are the ones sportin' badges.
