Hello all

Who's willing to stand up for the 2nd amendment for all?

The question I ask is when is the payment complete? Is a prison term the only form of payment? Is probation part of the punishment? Is forfeiture of certain rights part of the punishment? Is the debt paid only if restitution made to the victims? I suppose a court must decide when the debt has been repaid enough so that rights can be restored. Once the debt, whatever it actually is, has been repaid, I am all for the person enjoying all the rights of citizenship.
complete the entire prison sentence.
complete probation or parole.
make restitution for losses.

Sir I'd like to thank you for not letting me forget about the victims. I learned a lot about myself in just three days of posting this thread. I came in here all fired up about seeing the erosion of our constitution. It was never ment to come across as a thread all about me. I've seen since I've been out, our liberties and freedoms attacked on so many fronts, I was a bit riled up. Seeing triple amputees being persecuted for supporting the Wall, hearing Douglas Ducote Sr. On YouTube talk about the threats on his life( both real American patriots if you ask me), and countless others being slandered, threatened, and hated for standing up for what's right. I cant right a wrong. I am fully aware of Right and wrong. I just wanna live Right. On a lighter note. No Russian collusion was found!
When you started this thread it was all about you. That is the same attitude that got you into trouble to begin with (only thinking or caring about what you want to the exclusion of others rights).

I hope you are actually thinking about the bigger picture now and not just reading the room and responding accordingly.

I'm thankful I found this site. Sincerely! Your right. I was beside myself. I know I can never right a wrong, but coming into this forum helped to regain site of the bigger picture.

This is one of my favorite guys to watch on YouTube. He's active law enforcement in Massachusetts. Has anyone heard of him?

This is super easy to implement and available to everyone, including any convicted felon...move to a better country.

There are a hell of a lot of benefits associated with living in the US beyond voting and owning firearms, if you don’t think so I suspect that you haven’t spent much time out in the rest of the world.
This is my home. I love NC

Some of y'all......

Pay your debt to society you should get full restoration of rights. The right to bear arms and the right to vote. Felons beside your name already pretty much assures you are not getting a job at most places. That in its self starts another cycle of crime.

Let me add criminals do not get sentences long enough in most cases. And a speedy trial is a joke.

I totally agree. And I’m NOT a felon! If you’ve served your sentence you should get your rights restored! Period! Hell, illegal immigrant laws to prosecute them aren’t even being enforced by many of these corrupt law enforcement agencies! It’s ridiculous that they have more rights than a Felon that served his sentence and has been released back into society. They should have the same means to protect themselves and their families as anybody else!

And let’s face it, the so-called Criminal Justice system is really a sick joke set up to help people with money! Why should a poor person with a fool-proof case be sent to prison simply because he couldn’t afford a high-dollar “salesman” to represent him? It’s sickening. I wonder how many innocent people have died in the gas chamber or electric chair because they couldn’t afford to retain a master salesman. That blood is on all of us!

The Prosecutor or DA only cares about winning so as to build his resume! They don’t give a rats ass if they’re railroading an innocent person. The “few” corrupt cops that we always hear about constitute about 99% of them! They investigate themselves, lie to cover for each other, steal with impunity, and are for the most part dangerous sociopaths that get a pass because they have their cop costume on.

And if you think for a second that they don’t want everyone except them disarmed, I have some beachfront property in Hidden Valley to sell you! They’re on a mission to try to make every citizen a convicted felon, and if that means doing something “dirty”, well hell, that’s not a problem for them. But at least they make it home safely by the end of the shift. Never mind if they killed your puppy or kid armed with a cell phone.

I know there's good lawmen out there, cameras today are exposing the corrupt ones or the ones who are self serving. Hopefully more citizens will wake up to the injustices being exposed by citizen journalists, and help fix some of the issues we have today.

A truly honest, good cop cannot last more than a few months at most in any department! They will be harassed, shunned, set up, and sometimes murdered. Of course there are different “degrees “ of corruption, but that shouldn’t be an excuse.

Good example - Serpico. He still has to look over his shoulder.

I have a nephew that is a detective in a NW state. I absolutely will not have anything to do with him. The fact that he’s been there so long and advanced just tells me that he’s got to be extremely corrupt!

My stepson had an uncle (now deceased)in a police dept in some southeastern state. He would occasionally give him various knives and guns that were seized! Illegally of course but his brothers are probably doing the same thing! Who’s going to tell?

I’ve had more than a little stolen from me by Charlotte cops. Internal Affairs just acts like I’m lying and they’re not going to do a damn thing. We as citizens have no other recourse unless you’re financially independent. I’m not.

Do you recall the female cop that pulled another cop for speeding a couple years ago? She’s constantly harassed and intimidated. She may not even be a cop anymore. I haven’t kept up with it.

And if they shoot an unarmed person, you can just about count on the fact that they’ll miraculously become armed somewhere in the “investigation “.

Oh, and one of my best friends that I’ve known for 60 years is retired from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg PD. He’s held every position from Asst. Chief to Homicide to Internal Affairs. The horror stories he recalls are disgusting and still make him sick!

They’re simply just another street gang but have a badge and a gun and their costume that automatically makes them holier than you!

Wow! And I'm supposed to feel like a second class citizen, unbelievable! It's why I struggle with the idea of paying taxes. Yet I do. What a evil and vile system.

My father is in the VA hospital in Asheville. I told my wife she would never hear me complain about paying Federal taxes again. He's been there going on two weeks.

Sorry about your father Grits, I'll pray for him. Thanks for helping me see the good that comes from my taxes. This world is so sad sometimes. It's easy to not see the good, because all the evil. Please forgive me.

I hope that your father gets the absolute best care available! And gets to come home soon! It’s sad to hear about less than adequate care for our veterans while illegal immigrants seem to get the best within days of crossing the border!

I'm not afraid to say that I support the constitution but felons should not automatically be given all their rights back. I'm perfectly fine with it given time and a proven record of staying out of trouble. So I'm a fudd.
What's a fudd?

Well according to some it is basically a person, usually a hunter, that is all I love my guns BUTT there are lots of restrictions on why other people shouldn't own a guns. Because they are okay with restrictions of other people because they only use their guns to hunt or go to the gun club. They are only concerned about how it effects themselves.

That's a pretty good definition. Thanks.

Moral of the story is.
Whether by parenting or by osmosis or inner character depth. When you do something wrong? The definition resides within you. You are responsible for that YOU. The way a life is shaped is by taking a rough drafted image of ones self in the beginning, and by pain, or strife or ridicule. Have that image honed into a true man or woman. The identity of whom is sheltered within that which is YOU. You and God. You two are the only two that know your truth. You two are the ONLY two that it matters. Everyone else gets shared the portion that we choose to share. Honesty with one's self is most important. We have all heard "To thine own self be true." and "Honesty is the best policy."
I try to tell my grandkids all the time. (They worry so much about semantics) Be responsible. Honor up to wrong doings to yourself first before you lie to me about them. IT MATTERS ! Don't you dare believe a lie of you. Don't seek justifications by stretching the truth to suit a lie. You will be molded by "what" you are as you become "who" you are. So always be honest with yourself. If you become a lie, what will you bring to the table of love that can be shared with another? Get it?
Psalm 20 21
O keep my soul; and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.
Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

To me, it’s simple. If you commit a crime and are deemed untrustworthy with a firearm then you either shouldn’t be released from prison or you should be executed.

I still think we should just take one of those square shaped midwestern states, wall it all in, and make the entire state a free range prison. Toss violent offenders over the wall with a butter knife, a box of Kleenex, and a blanket. If they survive 5 years, they go free no questions asked.

In some states, owning a gun legal in NC would deem you a felon. According to the statistics, as much as 80% of gun owners in NY and CT are felons, either through ignorance or civil disobedience. Max sentence in these states for owning an AR15 can approach that of a rapist. I would hardly call that just.

Also, it begs the cliche question "if a tree falls in the woods and no-one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"...If one is a felon in a ban-state and then steps over the line into new border where 100% legal, is that individual STILL a felon? If 'once a felon always a felon' applies, then yes. If judgement and universal interpretation is deemed appropriate, then maybe not...

I would imagine someone from cali or up north likely knows 1 or many people who were one day law abiding citizens only to wake up the next a felon 30x over...if someone were around to hear it. and what is the threshold where law becomes rightfully unacceptable? This country was born illegally, sprouting from the roots of felony (or whatever equivalent charges were termed back then...)

Why wouldnt they be?

Statements like that make me feel as though I didn’t move far enough south. Plenty in Virginia will be able to do the border dance in due time. NC looks less than a decade away. As a teacher I doubt you will be in a position to relocate. You will need to make the register/surrender choice at some point and likely feel differently.

I think the point being made is the way you wrote it may be off. Being a felon travels from state to state. Firearms being legal doesnt. So if you are a felon, it doesnt matter where you go, you still a felon. I believe, and I could be wrong, that the point you were making is that me standing on one side of a border with a 30 round clipazine loaded into an evil black ghost gun is perfectly fine...I take a 1 inch move over a border and BOOM...Ive committed a major crime. And I agree, that is moronic on one hand...on the other, as a Southerner, I am quite fond of states rights and each individual state being able to make their own legal decisions.

Yes, B00G is on this - Felon is felon, you made a CHOICE to commit a crime and got busted (and, likely, not the first time you got in trouble)
Now I know he's trying to make it about guns and owning something that becomes illegal, but that aint this scenario at all.

ANd if you havent moved far enough south - then keep on trucking buddy, best of luck on your journey

Not in a position to relocate? How so? @Sigequinox220

fron my understanding it’s rather tough since you get boarded in each state, no?

Yes, my point originally was just to draw attention to the fact that, as gun owners, it’s very easy to unknowingly be a felon because of how silly and convoluted laws are. Hell there some gun configurations that are legal where you would commit a felony by building it in the wrong order.

not defending OP, nor do I know what he was incarcerated for...just saying it ain’t all that difficult to stumble upon a felony these days. People do it traveling every single day not realizing it. Some people are felons due to misfortunate events not even within their control. If you pick up your luggage with handgun inside after plane makes emergency landing in NY...felon.

liberals spend every waking moment trying to invent new ways to make you and I a felon. Losing rights given by God because of a a 30 round shoulder clip thingy and raping children is, well...not the same. Though HMP seems to imply otherwise.

I think the way we incarcerate people today there should be a way for redemption. It should be hard and long but it should be available. Young men do stupid stuff. We all grow and learn, we mature, we gain wisdom. I do not believe someone should be punished for their entire life for something they did when they were younger. People absolutely can change. Read about a guy named Varg Freeborn

Totally agree...there should be a sliding scale...should be, perhaps different for an 18-25 year old than say a 35-40 year old.

Your improper use of the word felon makes it much more difficult to follow your post than it needs to be. Do you understand that people aren’t felons automatically based on their actions or inactions, that they must first be tried and convicted?

Didn’t realize it was not coming across clearly. Perhaps the context of the thread, while related in nature, has caused confusion.

yes, I mean “felonious activity” for the most part, not convicted felon.

I was born and raised in Durham. Ive worked many shit jobs with LOTS of felons and they all had guns, "allowed to" never came up. When i turned 21 and told them all the hoops i was jumping through to get a gun legally, they made fun of me... Glad i'm not there anymore. Had another boss who was also a felon from a drug distribution case in 80s. He talked to his lawyers and they told him to go black powder. He bought a LeMat revolver - 9 shots of .44 and a 20 gauge blast for anything thats still moving. Its not a Glock with a spare magazine, but it is a lot of big bang buddy. Welcome to the forum and good luck with your family sir.

Yes, you have to get a new license, but, pretty much if you can get one then any other is going to be a cakewalk.

And when did I mention rape?
Dont put words in my mouth. And before you get your hopes up - nothing else in my mouth either.

The black powder route is still not classified as a firearm?

When Ive heard of felons in the past and guns, they have gone the air rifle route

Did not realize cause Im not looking at his profile multiple times a day to see when he's on.
