I'm trying, but this Tripp Tracy is just freaking annoying. I've been watching some Hurricanes games and just can't stand this dude. He sounds like a frat kid who ought to be doing local news in Podunk, IA.

I'm a lifelong Red Wings fan, but didn't renew the NHL package this year. Their play and color guys (except Larry Murphy) are awesome.

So...get me excited about this team...what do I need to know? I actually skated with Brind'Amour a couple times a hundred years ago, so there's that.

Stay faithful to your team. Tripp Tracy and the ‘woo’ calls at the RBC center make it a team to avoid. But they do play damn fine hockey. Gotta give them that. They gotz skillz.

I just don't want to pay for an 82 game schedule and only watch 10-15 of them. I just don't watch TV much, so thought I'd try the free route.

So far, free isn't worth the price!

I watch a lot of games-football, hockey, soccer, etc- without sound just because I don't like most of the commentary. Canes are a deep team with a lot of players who would be bigger stars in traditional hockey markets. People got to know Aho, Slavin, and others in the playoffs last year but a lot of guys like Pesce and Teravainen are relatively unknown but actually very good to elite players.

I was raised a blues fan but am in the same boat where I don't get to watch as many of their games. The intensity of my Canes fandom has depended on how good they've been but this particular group is very fun to watch.

They started out the season, last year, as a hot mess. But, they really turned things around mid-season and ended up getting into the second round of the playoffs. I am all about a team that fights hard and finishes strong. I grew up a Caps fan (and still am) but I’d be lying if the Canes haven’t won me over as well. I’m a Staal fan but they have a lot of good, solid players. We go to a game once year and try to get seats up close to the ice. It is a blast and we never leave disappointed.

And now we have a Red Wings game on NBCSN....Woot! Except the only announcer worse than Tripp is this asshat Doc Emerick. Gaaaaaaaawddddd that guy is awful.

In fairness, Mike Milbury and Eddie Olczyk are as solid as they come.

He is not my favorite but... I don't stress over it.

Some folks just go without sound or put the radio announcer on at same time

red white and blue capitals fan here. my daughter is 9 and she is becoming a canes fan. it's her home team. try to find a radio broadcast and pkay it over the tv? I hate the canes announcers too. Tracy makes the game unwatchable for me.

ALL CAPS! Same situation here. My son is 9 and he is the reason we started watching the Canes. But as I said in a previous post they have really grown on me, too.

another aspect for my daughter is she is playing hockey. the canes first goal program got her playing and she has got to do cool stuff and meet some great people from the organization. this is my kids with Shane willis at one of the events. the canes have been really good with the kids all the way around.

That’s awesome! Well then, sounds like you shouldn’t need that much convincing that these bunch of jerks are a good club to follow ;)

they really are a fan friendly club. I have been a closet fan for a while. I just cant bring myself to wear their gear lol. and I will not cheer for them against the caps. no way, no how!

Same here. Cannot convince myself to put a Canes jersey on and we never take our son to Caps/Canes game because it is so much more fun when we are all cheering for the same team.

I will give the canes credit on sweaters. their black 3rd alternate looks good. i am going to get my daughter one christmas. she likes Aho and Staal

Habs beat Bruins tonight. Life is good,

It’s not a real sport in the South so don’t worry about it.
In my opinion, Hockey should not be played in a state were it is impossible to skate on an OUTDOOR pond that NATURALLY froze! Of course, I also don't watch any sports so my opinion is pretty worthless anyway.

I was an Islanders fan growing up. Moved here at a young age and hockey coverage was non-existent. When the Canes came through I was excited just to see my guys play nearby. Over the years I've honestly found myself become more of a Canes fan than the Isles. Just kind of happened naturally. So I dont have any good advice on how to convert, just see if it happens. Now I LOVE it when they take the Isles just because they're in the same division. But there is still some love for the guys in blue/orange.

Disclosure: I went from a pretty bad team with an old legacy to a pretty bad team that can get their stuff together from time to time. That doesn't translate to Red Wings<Hurricanes!

I read a comment on a sports site that the Canes should send the schedule maker a gift for this stretch. True. But you still gotta beat who you are supposed to beat. Eventually there will be a correspondingly tough stretch somewhere.

They had a tough west coast stretch early in the year that hurt them a bit.
