Help me decide on a new subgun: PTR, Zenith, B&T, etc

So, long story short, wife really loves me and just found out what her bonus is today. She agreed to buy me a new subgun for Father's Day. Here's where I'm at:

Already have a Scorpion SBR (likely going to Micro K it).

Next subgun will be:
1: Converted to SBR, bought as a pistol and form 1d
2: Prefer it to have a Trilug
3: 9MM

In my research, I've come to a few conclusions and I'm basically considering the following weapons, with notes on each.

1: PTR 603/9KT. Cheapest of the bunch at around $1,600. Has trilug and threads. Easy to SBR and be 922R compliant. Has welded on rail which people are split about. Roller locker, so you know, legit. Everyone says PTR is great and has great service if anything happens. But the snobs say well it's not an HK or Zenith. It's also currently in stock everywhere. Can also accept an auto sear pack, if I ever get one.

2: B&T APC9 Pro. More expensive at like $2,350. Mags are more expensive. Probably the most complete overall gun. Has the trilug. Everything I read is that people absolutely love them. No exceptions.

3: Zenith MKE Z5P $2,000 or so if you can find one. They are basically unobtainium in K config right now. Hate I missed the one on here that @wvsig got. Can't accept auto sear packs. Expensive to make 922R compliant. High quality for sure though.

4: Sig MPX. New gen has MLok. Not in stock many places I can find. Sig's QC has been shit lately. Mags are expensive (so are HK MP5 and B&T I know). Gotta do more research on Trilugs, but I think I'd just have to screw one on. People seem to love how soft and flat they shoot. Not a roller locker.

Thoughts? I'm not considering the Stribog until the 3 version comes out (which will be delayed roller) which won't be until end of this calendar year at earliest. I've got an AR9, but the CMMG Guard or whatever it is now, 300 Banshee, gets lots of love since the 9MM Glock version is radial delayed blowback. Not a fan of the Glock mag angle though. I am considering using a New Frontier Arms or QC10 receiver kit that takes MP5 mags and trying to modify it to work with the radial delayed CMMG barrel and bolt, but that's more of a long term project as opposed to capitalizing on the wife's bonus.

What say you all?

Have you thought about the b&t ghm9? Instead of the apc.

I have, I just really don't like the look of it. Again though, the reviews are fantastic and everyone loves them.
If you want to try the ghm9 or the mpx let me know. We can hit up the indoor range at TSA. I'll bring em and ammo but we'd need to sight in the red dots. Maybe you can sneak away from work during the day for an extended lunch.

I just got the 9KT about a week ago, after well over a month wait.

Realizing they may be everywhere now (about a week after I got mine), where are they all?

I've found them online for under $1,600 shipped and labeled as in stock. Let met get to a laptop and I'll post some links.

Absolutely. Text me the specs on your MPX. I'd like to fondle both for sure.

I definitely agree with the price. Mine was $1605 after shipping and transfer.

I'm just curious about availability. Granted, I've only checked two sites.

A good friend of mine said his Zenith needed a new extractor and ejector right away, as it was a dud out of the box. Also said Zenith’s customer service was MIA when it came time for help. He would not recommend

Damn, just found the lastest generation MPX for $1661. That may be the deciding factor...

Nice.

I did find several places that had them for $1681. And I just got a quote from gunprodeals.com for $1545 (no mention of shipping).

I may be biased, but I vote for the 9KT.
The price is great and I hope to get one. I'm biased to b&t because my ghm9 is quality. Also, @TARHEELSTATE says they have almost a cult following.

The MKEs I have are great. If you look around long enough all of the HK clones have reported QC issues but so do Sigs.

From what I understand MKE is shipping guns to Zenith on a regular basis now for the foreseeable future which means nothing considering the political climate in Turkey.

PTR had a decent rep but my research said Zenith was better, at least until the first shipment of 2019. For me the fixed rail of the PTR killed it for me.

Sorry I took that deal but the wife said just buy it so I did.

Full disclosure: I am yet to shoot mine, so I can't speak to anything other than the price and cool factor. I'm currently working on trying to fit my Odessa 9 to it and want to run some subs. I guess I could go out and run some WWB through it, but somehow, that just doesn't seem right.

I have roughly 1500 through my Mpx 8" pistol. The gun run flawlessly. The Romeo 5 however died within the first 7 shots. Sent it off to sig had it back within 9 days.

Range officer at a local range has a Scorpion and he really liked the stance and feel of it but said it was heavy. Not sure if that helps

Also forgot to add the MKE Zeniths are nicer shooters than the Scorpion even with trigger work and upgrades on the Scorpion. That said even with the upgrades the Scorpion was cheaper.

My scorpion has a consistent 4lb trigger pull. It's hard as hell to beat it.

From the factory? Mine was closer to 9lbs + from the factory. Shooters element really cleaned it up. For me its not just about the trigger pull. Its about the setup. The total package. Don't get me wrong I like the Scorpion. I am not selling it but the roller action of the MP5 clones is smooth like butter. The Scorpion feels clunky in comparison. YMMV

Not from factory. I understand it's like comparing apples to oranges but with some afternarket love and refinement it's hands down my favorite one to shoot.

Mk9 omega...
As in Omega that is sold by Atlantic Firearms?

If I got an MPX it'd likely be the new 4.5" one.

Also, for the record, I love my Scorpion. Gen 1, HBI trigger spring, and a few other upgrades. I love everything about it and I think it'll only get better when I Micro K it.

Ideally, I'd get the MPX, a Zenith in K, PTR in 8", the APC9 Pro, and then build a NFA/QC10 setup using the CMMG RDB... Oh and then the third gen Stribog!

Are you really, really sure it has to be a 9mm?

This is basically everything I have on mine but I went with Parker Mountain safety, also did the different charge handle and paddle mag release.

It makes for a really nice package. I am still shooting the MKEs stock. Once I have a 1,000 rounds or so through them I will determine if I want to do anything to them. I like to shoot guns in their stock form before modifications so I know what I like and don't like about them.

So @wvsig, are any of your Zeniths SBRd? If so, what was the cost of getting them 922r compliant?

No not yet. They both have braces on them for now. IIRC the stock will be 3 parts. The forearm is another. Pistol grip and trigger parts will get you 922R compliant.

F*ck that gun and f*ck LWRC. Proprietary rail, no plans for MLOK, $3,000 MSRP, and possible limitations on suppressor choices due to the action.

They really blew it especially considering the original prototype.

HA! Nice. But I'm still lusting after one.

good luck on your search
I love the MP5 style guns a lot

On my Scorpion, I currently have:
- CZ stock kit
- HBI trigger springs, duckbill mag release, trigger, charge handle
- Pakse Pathfinder grip,
- Trijicon RMR 3.25 MOA on an ADM mount
- Troy Micro BUIS
- HK parts trilug

The gun shoots great, and I really like it, so if any of the other guns are softer/flatter, I know I will be tickled.

I think what I am going to do is try to continue to keep an eye out for a Zenith. In the meantime, @amnesia has offered to allow me to shoot his MPX and GHM9. If I get fed up on waiting for the Zenith, I know the PTR is likely there and by that time I will also have shot the MPX. Plus Amnesia's Scorpion has the ILWT micro barrel I want, so I can shoot it to confirm whether or not I want to convert mine.

I'd still love to hear more feedback and suggestions.

PTR...I went with the 9CT. I also got it for around $1200...brand new...so it was a no brainer! Shoots so smooooooovvvvveee!

B&Ts look nice but dang that price! Really same for Zenith, especially since you can get a great quality PTR for a bit less!

Don’t know a thing about the MPX...the only Sigs I have are a 938 and a 365. Those are sub-sub-sub guns!

Can't go wrong with a Brugger and Thomet, but they are pricey and parts are currently hard to come by.

I really like my PTR shorty. They make a folding stock for it too.

Mines in 308. Started out as a pdw (308 pistol). A lot of fun to shoot suppressed.
