First thing bear in mind, I am at best technologically challenged
My old lap top is dying slowly,
I'm looking to replace it before it crashes completely.
So for you techno wizards
I want something that streams video, I can edit video and run Low end 3-D graphics/design
software.
I would be blue printing wood projects and downloading plans for same as well as entertainment
streaming movies and such.
So without braking the bank what processor and memory would serve me best.
And which brand in a windows based computer

When you say 3D, I immediately think something with a dedicated graphics card, i.e. a gaming computer. Solid state hard drive option will make a huge improvement on any computer, but if you are doing videos you need lots o space. I would stay away from the big box store specials. I am not a fan of HP at all. Look at Dell... they can seem pricey, but they are well built (esp. business class) and have good warranty options. Consider Asus ROG and Alienware for best graphics performance.

I have a nice laptop that I plan on listing soon. It will do everything you need it to. Ill give you a really good deal.

Budget means everything.

My first option would be to get a used MacBook Pro and run windows as a full install not vm. Just install a ssd and have 8gb of ram. Load you windows and your good to go.

Now if your only after a windows machine I would look for a ssd, 8gb machine with i5 or i7 processor. Probably a Sony machine.

Unless you are sold on Windows for some reason I'd go Mac. I have on more than one occasion almost tossed my Windows based PC across the office because it slows down to a crawl with "updating". I swear at least once a week, even though it is set to update at 2am, it still is doing so during the day. My Mac doesn't do it but maybe once a month PLUS you have virtually no threat of viruses.
