Help with recoil spring on Sig P938

Trying to help a buddy in Raleigh with his new P938. Is there a method to put the floppy recoil spring back in the gun? I told him how I use a dowel rod with a Walther P22 to take up the slack on the spring. Any other ideas? Thanks.
