Anyone have experience with Henry shotguns? I'm looking at a Henry single shot and the release lever swings from the 5 o'clock position to the 7 o'clock position with some vertical movement and it just doesn't seem right to me. Any thoughts. The owner has contacted Henry and they said that there should be a "little movement" in the lever but this seem excessive to me.

Wanted to follow up as I am the referenced owner: subsequent to lasttombstone's looking it over, I took the shotgun down to a gunsmith who confirmed that the degree of "play" in the release lever was as-designed. He admitted that it was "more play than he'd seen before," but thinks it has to do with the ability to shift the lever in either direction (ambi) to open the break. In any case, it seems to have checked out. Darned nice gun to shoot so quite the relief.

Also wanted to give a hat-tip to Lasttombstone: he provided an awesome example of xenia (Gk) or hospitality.

Glad that issue got looked at by a professional. I'll admit, I was like you. It felt like the lever was about to fall off compared to what I had been accustomed to.

And I didn't know I had any xenia around. I thought I had mowed all or them down.
