As a few of you my might remember I posted something about my mother's health and father's mental state.
Last Thursday we had to leave Savannah because of the hurricane. I knew we would be taking my father with us but my mother's health would not let her make the trip. On Thursday we get a call from the asst. Living home saying my mother was having a hard time breathing and rushed her to the ER. We had to leave Savannah and felt that she was in the best place possible.

On Sunday night we get a call from the hospital and they are saying that my mother is going down hill and might not be around much longer. We packed up ( sister who lives in Atlanta) father and wife and get to the hospital around 2 am. She was still with us and we decided to head to the house to unpack. About 7:30 AM the lights go out and I went looking for some more gas. About 15 minutes into my search I get the call from the hospital that we need to get up there quickly. When we get there 5 or 6 nurses were in the room and they Said that they did not want her to past alone. Maybe 30 to 40 minutes later she was gone.

My mother was one tuff lady who never gave up but her body just could not take it any more.

In the Jewish religion we try to have the funeral within 48 hours but the cemetery is closed because of the storm and not sure when it is going to open. Then my kids need to come in from Atlanta and everybody from FL will be heading down I75 making that 4 hour trip into a 15+ hour trip. I hope that they will come home using the back roads.

I know that my mother is now resting peacefully without anymore pain.

Excellent post. She's in a better place than we are and knows the answers to every question ever asked.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. May you find peace in knowing her suffering is at an end, and that her fine family carries on.

You know what's really cool about this?

THIS is what's really cool about this:

These nurses are the epitome of what it means to be compassionate. Your mother was fortunate to be in their care.

Prayers for you and yours.

She has a new life now, but who you know as mom will always be with you. :)

Truly sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I'm glad you were able to be there with her at the end, I know that meant a lot even if she couldn't tell you so.
