Pres. Trump did not sign any bill, only directed the DOJ to make a rule to ban them. It will end up in court by design.

Trump is not a gun guy. He relies entirely on the NRA to get an idea what progun people are. This is clear in his address to the NRA convention where he talks at length on the economy, jobs, immigration etc but maybe a minute on guns.
The problem is that the NRA executives such as Wayne LaPierre, Marion Hammer & Chris Cox are a bunch of Judas’s who need to be dragged out at SHOT show & beaten to death. Or hanged, I’m not particular...

Damaging to who, exactly? If all just power of government is derived from the consent of the governed, then any power to which the governed do NOT consent is unjust and immoral.
That's either something you believe, or you don't.
The only thing damaged by the withdrawal of consent to be ruled is the legitimacy of the State - something that's as old as these United States, and something sorely needed in the 21st century.

But we are radicals, as limited government, individual Liberty and the Rights of Man is a radical position here in the so called Land of the Free (TM).
As I posted earlier, if Trump did not push for the ban, NRA wanted regulation, Congress would have done a lot worse.
By design it is destined to fail.
The bump stock is not a firearm, it is an accessory and just like a vertical grip, can not turn a semi auto firearm into a machine gun.
We just have to let it play out.

As a known pro-gun activist who the left in NC knows, I’m very easily susceptible to some loon saying I’m dangerous, then having the police show up at my home at 5am demanding entry and my firearms.
Well basic home defense plan involves not answering anyone I don’t know, pounding on my door while it’s pitch black outside. If they attempt to enter, instead of coming back at daylight, I’m taking them for home invaders and aiming accordingly... next thing you know there are 4+ dead LEO’s on my floor and I’m skeptical USCCA/etc is going to want to help me, assuming I live thru the raid.
All with the blessing of the miserable, cretinous shits at the NRA... I hate them now to the point if I see someone wearing an NRA hat, I tell them they should burn it as it doesn’t mean what they think it means.

Yes but the NRA talking to the folks in Florida will do nothing to change what the President, Congress or BATF&E will do with respect to the bump stocks or

I will not be the least bit surprised if Trump trades UBC or red flag laws for the wall. In fact, I almost expect that to be the case. And all the people who said "yeah, but a bump stock is just a useless toy" will then be saying "yeah, but UBC isn't really stopping good guys from getting guns".

The Democrats supported $1.6 billion in wall funding as recently as December. Their rhetoric says moral issue, just as he GOP's rhetoric says financial sanity and pro-gun.
But assume they get UBCs, Red Flag laws AND a path to Citizenship for Dreamers.....they'll sling bricks and mortar and help build the wall.
Trump sees himself as a great deal maker.
And he's wheeling and dealing with Our Rights.
