If you want people to say what their thoughts are, you might as well just put in a request to move this to the special access section now...

Spoke to a good friend and hunting buddy that lives almost at the corner of Skeet Club and Johnson. Just general catch up call and he said, hell let me tell you what happened! Thought I had been Swatted! For anyone familiar with the area, Blair Wood was the old Blair Dairy farm which was his grand dads. He still lives in an Airstream just back off the road next to the development (has lived there since that was way out in the country). He hears voices in the yard so steps out the door which butts up to the house they built but never lived in, so creates a blind alley when the door is open. When he opens the door, he hears "door, door" Freeze, nobody move. Put his hands up and closed the door with his elbow so now they can see him and they say, nope not the guy (he is an old white hippie, hair down to his ass). He said cops, ARs, dogs and pistols drawn. He goes nope, and they continue to search. He thought it was funny that he did not get his dog shot, choked out or tazzed. Told him that was his old ass white privilege. Say then he smoked a bowl and went back out to watch them chase around the bad guys. Told him he won the "what's happening" story for the year! Investors have finally made an offer on his property, so he can move out to the country again and get out of that sh*thole that Hight Point has become.

Just so I'm clear on this. Your friend heard voices and those voices were from law enforcement, is that correct? I know exactly where Blair Wood is located. Am I correct in assuming that there were law enforcement personnel on your friend's private property? Maybe I'm misinterpreting your post. If so then my apologies. If not, then it sounds like things could have gone south in a hurry had the "right people" been home.

You are exactly correct, the LE had come onto his property looking for the perp. Apparently they had run in that direction. They had not knocked on his door or announced themselves, he stepped out when he heard them. Yes, had the potential to go south fast, and in this case I will say it is a good thing he is not a black male.

This happened about a mile as the crow flies from my house.

Gang members from Durham stealing stuff from cars in a nearby neighborhood in N. High Point.

High Point officer responding to a call from a resident nearly shot in the face.

Lucky for the officer.
One Deputy up here in Henderson County was killed. He was shot in the face by a car breaker with a gun he'd stolen from the vehicle.

Yep HP has become a S**tHole for sure. That area use to be the country when I went to school out there. Then everything started moving that way and it went to S**t.

Thankfully officer was not shot. They did arrest one of the offenders and the wonderful Guilford County Judge reduced his bond yesterday. Go figure
That is the problem right there. These air wasters do this crap, get caught, put in jail, and the prosecutors and judges let them go. There should be consequences on them when they keep letting repeat criminals out.

It's gotten worse and moved out to what was some of the nicest real estate in the city as "that school" has been, ah hem, "buying" up the hood and pushing the hoodlums out.

Not to mention the city and it's Real Estate politicians buying all the farmland up this way and developing it into high density residential neighborhoods. My little 20 home neighborhood in the county is surrounded by hundreds of high density homes that are jam packed so close together you could open your kitchen window and reach out and touch your neighbor's house.

Edit:

My wife and I had planned to live out our lives right here. However, and I haven't discussed it with her yet, but I can see us moving out of here and out into the country sometime in the not so distant future. Besides, we would like a smaller house with a huge detached garage and a lot of wooded land.

When we built our house fifteen years ago on 4 acres, we had 180 acres of woods just to the north and east of us. That's all gone now and Kendale Road is going to be unbearably congested once the development to the south of us near Skeet Club and the other development going on just to the west of us is completed.

I feel really fortunate that I got out of High Point when I did. Went away to college in 77 and never really went back except a few summers. Hell when I was a kid, my Mom would drop me and a couple buddies off at the Center Theater downtown for the 9 o'clock movie and we would walk home and we lived off of Kensington over by Northwood School. We would just wander the streets being little hoodlums. But we were not worried and our parents were not worried about us making it home. Now if you dropped me off in downtown after dark I would want full battle gear and back up!

Queen of England is looking for an American castle when you put it up for sale.

They seem to be putting up cheaply built town houses and apartments on any postage stamp they can find. I assume you've been out towards Jamestown recently and seen it. Also, what is up with that stupid road running from somewhere out past Vickery Chapel and dead ending strangely at Greensboro Rd near 311?

We built about 17-18 years ago with the idea that it could be our long term house, but ultimately we are going to get out of the area. About 1.5 years ago we bought an older home in a small town in western Chatham Co. I haven't been able to bring myself to part with the HP house yet, though, and when I go back to mow lawn or stay there for a while part of me really wants to live there. I like the house, it's nicer than the one we bought, though it needs some updating and repairs, I moved there and finally got away from my parents and family, meaning in many ways it's home like no other place has been.

The HP house has woods behind it that I believe is pretty well land locked without access, and I hope it stays that way, at least as long as I have the house. The only way you can control what goes on around you is to own the property and even then it can be rough. We have about 60 acres out at my parents place and now there is talk about putting a chicken farm on the 100 acre lot across the main road.

If they do that, you'd better be able to park all the vehicles you care about in enclosed garage spaces...
(My cousin has chicken houses down the road from my dad's. Aside from the smell, the chicken poop particulate pollution is hell; it gets on everything. Dairies are no problem - you get used to that smell pretty easily. Pigs, and chicken/turkey/other birds...oy vey. And I grew up with it all.)

Murder Beach cop killed and another shot last night at a domestic violence call. Shooter is dead. Not sure if SIW or Cop Shot. From location my guess would be suicide.

Next time you get in front of a candidate running for judge ask the person how close the nearest housing project is to their domicile. These folks rule from afar and until it gets near their home nothing is going to change.
