Yup. i went and got suckered into a timeshare presentation in exchange for a few nights stay. They're tossing in a couple hundred bucks on a gift card, so I'll take a weekend vacation for "free".
Long story short - we already have a timeshare from a different company, so i'm going to get a bunch of free breakfast snacks and spend about an hour doing this.

Anyway. I forgot to ask for ideas earlier, we leave tomorrow morning. what should we do?
I figure we'll stroll through the local riverwalk area for the mrs. she already said she anticipates me detouring to some battlefield museum or something.
any anti-gun stuff i need to be aware of?
what else should we try to see? decent gun stores?

and before you crazy gun-hungry yahoos get any bright ideas, I got an armed family member staying at my house to watch over my guns and feed my dog!

Governors palace has some very cool weapons displays

Is the forge/gunsmith shop open any more?
I went there as a kid and was amazed at the handgun they were working on.

did some shopping, looked at some touristy things, enjoyed the good weather at the riverwalk in yorktown, saw the revolutionary war museum in yorktown, the gunsmiths at williamsburg were hammering iron flats into tubes and such. Got some really good middle eastern food (and expensive).
not too bad.
The timeshare guy knew we weren't interested because we ran into some problems with the room they put us in so we just hung out with him for the absolute minimum amount of time he had to keep us (my watch timer beeped as we were walking out) and that was it.
so a free stay, money on a gift card, and some history. Not bad.

Talk to me about this timeshare scheme you scored the free rooms through?

Cabelas had them in their store a few weeks back

the room was garbage. It was part of the Vacation Village chain. We told the guy up front that it was so bad he'd be wasting his time trying to sell to us. So he was like "alright. the rule is we have to spend the 90mins together so you can get your gift card, so ..." and then we talked about vacations, helped him plan his next vacation with his girlfriend, where we all grew up, why our hotel had been bad... he didn't even try selling us on anything and had us out on time. I appreciated that part.

If the suite hadn't been in a questionable state of disrepair (smoke detectors beeping dead battery every minute, a toilet plugged and overflowing, one of the lights burned out, and then a list of minor complaints), it actually would have been a pretty solid outfit: A small balcony, 2 bedrooms with king beds, a kitchenette, a couch and some other chairs in the common area, a jacuzzi tub in the master bath. They clearly had covid staffing issues, and a few employees, including the maintenance folks, said they were pretty grumpy about how they were overworked and couldn't get things where they wanted them to be. Our guy said until recently they grew by referrals, but they've had to switch to advertising and stuff due to covid. Everybody in every industry is adjusting...

We already have a timeshare through wyndham, so we usually hit up one of their "upgrade your account" meetings to get a gift card or something. Sometimes they give us some bottles of free wine and beers to take to our room just for showing up in addition to the gift card.

Last time we went to pick Williamsburg, the time share gimmick was tickets to the local amusement park. We took them up on the offer.

Off topic, but I remember taking one of the guided tours. Black female tour guide and it was us and a black couple as guests. I forget the exact subject, but she didn’t sugar coat slavery and this was before the woke BS. The black couple called her out on it, and I forget the exact response but she basically said that it was important to understand what things were really like and it did no service to try to try to paint a different picture on history,
