So I have an HK 94, basically a civilian American import MP5.

I’d like to put some “optics” on it but not really sure what would be a good fit and match, exact mounting set up, height I might be looking for etc

Most of my optics and shooting takes place with hunting rifles which is not really helping.

For example an eotech seems like it might be cool but it’s so wide I don’t know how it will look or be a good match.

Use? Really just screwing around.

Any thoughts?

Just be careful with what mount you use and how you mount it. An original HK 94 in good condition goes for $5000+. Scope mount marring on the finish is one of the first things potential buyers look for. If you're never going to sell it - disreegard.

This is a good point and one I am worried about. Sure I could sell it one day.

As long as you do the mount correctly it won’t hurt the value much. Those guns are so rare it will not matter unless you really butcher it . A good mount would only be a minor difference in value

Personally I like the Holosun 510 series sight in green.

Re mounts, you can go with a direct mount Holosun, one of the low profile clamp on picatinny rail mounts, or the old school A.R.M.S type quick release clamp on mount (factory HK clone) that sits higher and allows you to use your iron sights as well.

This is a nice factory low profile mount.

The cheek weld is a bit different with the quick release factory HK / A.R.M.S type mount, as it is sitting an inch or so higher than your normal sight line. However it works out ok.
