You can only have 1 handgun but you are a snob and will only choose from the finest kraut engineering - you will use this pistol for everything and will actually do all of those things (self defense and CC, hunting, idpa or similar matches) you live in a dangerous area but not Detroit or Chicago but something 2nd rate danger like the bad parts of west Columbia, Gastonia, or Cleveland
Which gun from those 2 companies would you pick and why?

I’m going with walther p99

Reactions: Me.
I'm on the brink of retiring my P99/ppq guns to my own personal walther museum and replacing all of them with the PDPs i've bought in the last couple years. I prefer the p99, but there's just more you can do with a pdp.

I had a vp9 and i traded it for a walther
I had a usp full size .40 and i sold it or something
i still have my compact usp .40 tucked away in the safe

but walthers? here's a few of mine.

I should take a family photo of all my HKs and their Walther cousins... But, I'm too lazy to go dog them all out of the safes...

Love my P99, but I'll take my VP9 tactical with 20rd mags...

Never know when you'll need to dump 9rds into a bad guy's back in a taqueria in Texas...

For me, it's the H&K P30, the finest 9mm made in Deutschland.

I also really like the USP Compact 9mm, but the price and lack of updated features of the P2000 and P30 makes it hard to justify over those.

I've got 2 p22s... I love them, especially with a suppressor...

Man I have abused the bejesus out of my P22 and it takes it. These things run better than the price point would suggest.

I do get hammer follow occasionally but it hasn't been annoying enough to send it in.

It would be a tough choice between a P7 and a P99.

Not when you take all of the OP's criteria into account. I'll admit to having a P7, but having to rely on one heavy, low capacity G19 sized handgun when you could have what amounts to an actual G19 instead (P99), why go with the lesser of the two? Manual of arms is funky, more so with the heel mag release, and actually doing fast reloads on the clock with the P7.... it's not trivial.

You make some good points. I hate to see such a nice fella be burdened with such an obsolete, tactically dangerous, boat anchor.

I happen to have a farm, out in the country, where many folks like to send their no longer desirable blunderbusses, like that sad P7 of yours, where it can live out its remaining years in peace and tranquility. I won't even charge you.

Just think of all the money you'll save not having to feed it 9mm ball anymore. Think it over.... It's peace of mind.

It's slowly rusting away in the safe on a small pile of 124gr FMJ, but maybe the country life would be better for it's final days.

I dont have a cwp, but when I'm packing a pocket gun its usually a first gen walther PPS 40 sw.......

West cola aint the scariest part of Columbia

I carry a PPS m1 every day. I have all the other options but the pps standard fits like nothing else so I can't let go. I did super glue that back strap for piece of mind.

P7 is one of my few lottery-win dream gun purchases.
It's so awesome. I love everything about it. But it would also sit in the safe to be brought out as a fun novelty and collectors item to ogle and shoot. It's like a piece of functional art now.
It's just not right how a cheap plastic gun like a Grock 19 can supplant it!

It's the Butterface Era y'all.

USP, USP Compact, P2000, P30, Walther P99... heck, I could be left with any one of those and I would be happy as can be.

I just bought a brand new P99 Final Edition from Family Firearms for $697... Check their website and click "Email for best price" and they will knock it down from $799 to $697.

I guess I am going to sell my P99 Compact. Anyone interested?

Here's the Final Edition:
