Hodgdon Powder Company Acquires Ramshot Powder, Accurate Powder and Blackhorn 209 from Western Powders

Hodgdon Powder Company is pleased to announce the acquisition of the Ramshot and Accurate smokeless powder brands and the Blackhorn 209 muzzleloader brand from Western Powders. This acquisition is effective October 1, 2020, with the company set to immediately begin shipping these new products to wholesale and retail customers.

What's interesting is that I've been getting notices from Hodgdon offering IMR and Winchester powders direct to consumer and that Hodgdon powders will be available soon.

Yep, got that email too the other day. Not sure I understand them taking that marketing/sales decision. One thing for sure is it will piss off resellers like Powder Valley. Similar to what Lapua and Berger did to their "master distributors" recently.

Perhaps Hodgdon thinks that the big resellers are manipulating the market with managed shortages and wants to demonstrate that they can sell directly and cut them out?

wow...i went down the "rabbit hole" with jj8's comment/question.

Lapua/Berger is owned by Capstone is owned by Nammo is owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries
and Patria Oyj, each owning 50% of the shares in the company and PO is owned by the State of Finland and Kongsberg D&A
and Kongsberg D&A is owned by Kongsberg Gruppen and that is where i stopped.

Cutting out the middleman wud be great but only if the price goes down and the supply goes up. Having worked in an industry for 30+ yrs that went to market via distributors, the only value they "added" was 2% 10 net 30 no exceptions.

@blewis3 well you were concerned about consolidation of reloading components worth the Rem/Vista deal, how about this one.
